This is super simple explanation of the story for anyone who still finds themselves confused by the overall arch: . . . . . . . . . The Eye of the Universe was the Beginning of the Universe, the thing that made it in the beginning. The universe grew and expanded. Stars and planets formed. Civilizations rose and fell. During the this time, the The Owl-elk creatures managed to receive a signal the Eye was sending out. They became obsessed with it, decimating their home to build a star ship to reach the Eye. Upon reaching it, they realized that if it was ever activated/awoken, it would collapse what was left of the universe in on itself and destroy it. They became scared, and built a device to seal the signal away, so no one else would ever find it. Then they became despondent, realizing they'd destroyed their home on a fool's errand, to chase down something that would destroy everything. So they built the digital space, to go back to their home and live forever. The Prisoner didn't like this. He (probably) thought the Eye was the Natural Order of things. He woke himself up, and turned the signal blocker off. The others realised what he did and stopped him, imprisoning him and turning the blocker back on. The Nomai had already caugh the signal though, and made their way there. Before they could get to the Eye, however, the Interloper Comet appeared, and wiped them out. Then the Player's species evolved and grew, and eventually learned to reach the stars... that were fading out. Stars were winking out, the night was going darker and darker as the universe itself reached Entropy- the Heat Death at the end of the universe. The natural end of things. Player's species (through the game) unravels the secret of the Eye, reaches it, and activates it. The Eye, as it was always meant to do, pulls what's left of the dying universe into itself again, and reforms a new one from the thoughts and memories of the player and the character's they've interacted with. The Eye brings forth a New Universe, like it was always supposed to do, and is probably out there, sitting quietly and waiting for the Death of this new one to begin before it will start sending it's signal out again, to set the cycle in motion once more.

In one of the dream areas, you can find the simulated version of the Prisoner's house, now burnt down- judged by it having a telescope in the same formation as the one back on the owlks planet. In it, you can find a painting- perhaps of a vision they saw- of the same skull with grass growing out of it the owlk saw when scanning the eye. From it grows a flower in the shape of the eye of the universe, which emits planets and life, flowers now growing from the death. I took that as the reason the Prisoner understood the eye's true purpose was growth, not destruction. Maybe they were the only one who scanned the eye completely? Maybe it was simply a hunch. But I like that tidbit since it's easy to miss and assume the Prisoner just knew, when there's a whole detail in the game that explains it!
@daguru5459
@daguru5459 14 күн бұрын
@@lando8156 Yes. In the updated version of the 2nd burned reel, there's a small sprout starting to grow out of the skull before the Owlk leader interrupts the vision and becomes disheartened and then angry. This implies that the Prisoner saw the complete vision.

Specifically, I think the Nomai likely caught _Echoes_ of the signal (wordplay intended) going around in the twisted spaces of Dark Bramble, hence why they jumped *there* when they came to the system. I say this because there's a Nomai log that talks about signal confusion in there, where they were hearing two identical Vessel signals (and went for the closer one, just to find a seed echoing the signal they were hoping it actually was, though they apparently couldn't have made the further trip by the time they made a decision to begin with). Dark Bramble messes with signals a lot, so I'm guessing that the Eye's signal that they actually jumped to was a duplicate from Dark Bramble, hence why they very suddenly had massive thorny vines tearing their Vessel apart.
@lando8156
@lando8156 10 күн бұрын
@KamitsukiLuciela Yes! That's what I think too, it's such awful luck that a area echoing virus is in the same solar system the eye is in, and it's so cool how there's a good reason as to why the nomai warped right in the middle of dark bramble

I love how, like with pointcrow, seeing the "there is a make the game less scary option" prompt gets into our head and makes us fear things that aren't even scary. If that prompt didn't happen walking up the tower around 25 mins wouldn't be scary, base game wouldn't have really been a problem. it faded with me decently quickly because I realized this isn't supposed to be a horror game DLC fast, generally.
@mythaniakeroberos2405
@mythaniakeroberos2405 13 күн бұрын
That prompt that the game is scary, makes it so much worse. Gives so much dread. All in all, the DLC is nothing compared to Dark Bramble, heck you can even retry if you get caught. But tell you it's going to be scary, and then messing with light so much really does well to set the mood.
@AliceinEntropy
@AliceinEntropy 13 күн бұрын
@@mythaniakeroberos2405 I watched another video, and actually that prompt improves the experience tangentially to what I saw in the comments there. The story/moral of the DLC is overcoming fear and you can only beat the DLC by stopping being afraid of the Owlks and the unknown of the DLC. That happened early for me but for others they held on longer.

Hey Point Crow! I really enjoy your content and I have another game for this channel I'd like you to try out. One of my all time favorite games is this survival/exploration platformer called Rainworld. You're a small, defenseless creature at the bottom of the food chain. Trying to make your way back home to your pack, navigating your way through this post-apocalyptic world full of predators, (who are all very hungry for you!) and the routinely occurring torrential downpours of rain so strong, it wipes out any and all creatures caught in the storm. You must fight through the odds, gather food, and explore the unknown ruins of this broken civilization, all to live another day to meet your family once more. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to play. Have a great day! You the best Eric.

The DLC is an incredible addition to the main game. Upon the completion of the base game, one is left to wonder how ANYTHING could top or add to the experience that is the original game. Without spoilers, the DLC delivers satisfying gameplay and additions to the main game's story that just ties everything together even more. Its so masterfully crafted and I am echoing (no pun intended) the notion that people play it if they haven't yet.
