We had the same thing happen to us several years ago in Saskatchewan, our guys were there before the outfitter. We had permission from the farmer and still got kicked off by the outfitter.Very frustrating but you guys scratched one out for us. Nice to see the reality of hunting. You guys were the better men. Even though it stinks, you kept it positive and still were blessed!

As a Saskatchewan born and raised avid waterfowl hunter, I think people are under the impression that Saskatchewan is the Wild West and is a untapped sportsman’s paradise, in some cases that’s true but the outfitters in the prairie provinces are getting out of hand. I know the outfitter in question and it’s not just them so to point a finger is wrong but you can’t help but have anger towards them for locking up every hunt and bribing farmers. To all you free lance hunters If your coming to Saskatchewan be respectful, pick up your garbage, give back to the community’s you stay in, this is our home and your vacation.

Can't agree more. We got 4 outfitting businesses 20 minutes from Quill Lake. Then adding the free lancers. It's hard enough with them locking up every field for weeks and seeing those birds never get shot up. makes it almost impossible for a local like my self to go out with some Budies on weekend. Absolutely brutal!

As a Saskatchewan farmer i have allowed lots of hunters on my land to hunt and never a problem, next i held an outfitters license for 30 years never used it much but at least i had it if i wanted to, always leave the land the way you found it also if its wet stay out and don’t rut up the mans field as these days it’s continuous cropping and very hard to get fill the ruts in with air drill… Also where i live its been very dry so not likely there will be any hunting allowed because if someone hunting started a fire and burned out my neighbours place sure wouldn’t feel very good. The thing that get me are the one that never ask permission and play dumb!

I was literally loading the truck for first afternoon hunt when I got the text from the son (55 yr old). “Grandpa” took the $$$ from Infinite Outdoors without telling his son. I went from permission for the season for FREE, to the option of paying $150 per hunt, plus another $100 per “guest” like my wife or some buddies. Hits right in the gut.

Know the feeling. We have shot on a farm for 40 years, and now the farmers son has let one of his friends on. The latest thing he did was leave a load of dead pigeons on a field where we had been watching; letting the numbers build up. Hey!Ho! What can you do. We are not on the geese yet, but at least when they arrive we have got several farm to ourselves.
@benevans96702 ай бұрын
That's sucks. Imagine being a Canadian local guy who only gets to hunt once a week and having some fancy outfitter from the states show up in your area and lock up all the fields they can so they can have their groups of 11 hunters from Alabama pound the birds into oblivion and you can't get access to hunt in your own backyard where you live and pay taxes. Where the outfitter tells land owners he has" the right" to guide here. It's really nice. The outfitters have gotten crazy around here. I think Alberta and Saskatchewan should follow Manitoba's lead and limit how long American hunters can stay up here. What do they do with all the birds they shoot? The Conservation officers should be all over these shady outfitters.

You’re a guest in our country. Why do you think that Canadians should just say absolutely and bow out to you.
@ColeTownsendThe2 ай бұрын
@@peterlittle8880 I never said or expressed that at all… but with that being said.. I’ve owned two outfitters in this country. I’ve been the outfitter in this same scenario where we were the first to the field and the locals had permission as well. Over 30 times this has happened to me as an outfitter and I let locals hunt with me every single time. Not because I have to but to me it’s the right thing to do. Not only have I made some incredible friendships with Canadians along the way but as an owner of an outfitter the upside to having locals or other hunters on your side is nothing but a good thing. Not to mention the owner of the field told me he doesn’t allow outfitters to hunt so it threw me off. I’m a humble guy and love making friends with other hunters in the community. It has nothing to do with being bowed down to. If I wanted to be bowed down to we would have been able to get them out of the field no problem but like you said I’m a guest and I walked away politely. Even told the guys where another big feed was that they didn’t know about. Great question though. I appreciate it!

Cole as an outfitter has seen nothing but positive things happen letting guys hunt that had permission too. Cole as an outfitter has permission from the land owner being the son. I love meeting new people and making friends. Cole as an outfitter would have loved to promote that guys business in the video to get him clients to that actually pay 25k usd but the outfitter didn’t see the upside like I’ve seen being an owner of 3 outfitter.
