Outi is the best teacher. I watched her videos several years ago and her instructions have stuck with me as I throw today

I am good at keeping a cylinder but didn't realize how to bring and keep it in. Thank you for letting us know.

Just to advise there has been a bunch of people giving out incorrect information. Do your own research. I pullbon the left outside supporting and my right inside lifting the wall. I have had a stroke so my left hand torques the clay. This way it allows me to use my left hand as a support.

Of the throwing videos I’ve seen hers is the most centered. Thank you!

Thank you James! Every year I make a goal for the year and every year it seems to be focusing on centering as it is the most important aspect of being able to make what I set out to do.

I am in the process of building a potter's wheel and I need to know the height of the turning surface to the floor. I don't know if there is a standard or it's specific to the potter. From what I have seen, it's about sitting mid crotch height, lower than the knees. Thanks for any help you can provide.

when and how do you cut the opening?
@mugistudio85285 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, I cut it open with an exacto knife when it's ready to be trimmed. I center the piece, cut it and use the bottom piece as a chuck to trim the lid. Then I trim the bottom as the last step.

What is the point of the chopstick at the end!?
@finnrose23032 жыл бұрын
They are indenting into the side in order to separate the "lid" from the "jar". They will later cut the top and bottom from each other and after cleaning it up, the top will fit nicely into the bottom, creating a whole closed jar from one closed form.
