David Berry's work was utterly BRILLIANT! He inhabits that character with so much virtue, selflessness, and strength he makes Lord John believable and admirable. Jamie may be the King of Men but LJ is definitely a Prince.

I already have adored David Berry in the role of Lord John ever since his character first came on. But that “Morning After” scene is so brilliant. The indescribable expression on his face as he looks up at a pouting and seemingly sulking Claire and then he just says, “What?!” That made me laugh and cry at the same time. Wonderful delivery 👏

Fabulous job of acting, David! You portrayed a grieving Lord John SO well. Your facial expressions are incredible, your voice and its control is amazing! I imagine, the intimate scene with Clair was very difficult to shoot. I’m happy it wasn’t any more visual than it was. Bravo, on this episode!

The scenes were so brilliant! Every comment I've read is about how amazing you were, David, and of course Caitriona. It was so well done and believable. The intimacy in the morning talks was really great as well. I loved the characters opening up to each other in spite of the embarassment the morning after. So humanizing and personal. Great follow up to the difficult unexpected union. Touché! Well done.

This was everything that the book promised it would be. Caitriona talked about it in an interview last year in Texas that she did. This is more true to the way the books handle it and I am glad that it remained true to the novel.

I have not seen this scene yet but I read the books years ago and I cried like a baby. Both deeply in love with the same man and hurting so bad that they turned to each other for comfort. I see nothing to be ashamed of.

I thought it was a difficult scene to do , two people both deeply in love with the same person and share their grief ( thinking that person is dead ) in a sexual manner , each person feels they are sexually loving that person, it makes sense who better than Claire and Lord John , there was anger, grief , frustration and for Claire wanting to end your life because the love of your life is not there and presumed dead, fantastic acting Caitriona Balfe and David Berry ❤️❤️

Lord John is one of my favorite characters. Dave plays that character with such strength, grace and wry humor. I think they shot those wedding night scenes just right. It matched the characters’ mindset. Quick snippets of the desperation and grief. This wasn’t a romantic moment for either character. Just two people sharing what was left of someone they both loved.

I found the scene between these 2 characters very elegant, desperate and fantastically performed. Berry was incredible in showing pain and vulnerability. Balfe was amazing as well in showing a painful rage toward her loss. And I love the scene because did not show explicit sex but rather focused on the different grieving processes the 2 characters had, but also showed the inevitable vulnerability of the morning after and how Lord John finally can be open about himself and doing so, keeping the deep bond with Jamie through Claire I think was one of the most moving and tense moment of the show, well directed and played.

The Fraser's don't deserve Lord John. His devotion to Jamie, saving his life numerous times, bringing up his illegitimate child, becoming engaged with Bree while she was pregnant, marrying Claire. And this is what he gets. And for Jamie and Claire, knowing full well he's been left for dead, have sex on his dining table. Gross.

The intimacy scene was okay, but it should have been more. If you haven’t read the book, I believe you would say, “What the heck just happened?” Their grief and anger at the loss of Jamie were not acted out enough before their sexual intimacy and how amid that anger and grief they also comfort each other, in a sort of violent way. Allowing them to release their extreme grief.
@deltaanthropos5259
@deltaanthropos5259 Ай бұрын
I disagree. They did the scene just right. I did not read the books and I knew exactly what was happening. This moment was mostly about inconsolable greif and anger and the sex was an incidental consequence of two broken people seeking what little refuge they could find from their pain at that moment. The scene focused mostly on the expression of inconsolable greif, anger and emotional pain and only showed a few hints of sex at the end. Then we cut to them in bed the next morning. Anyone with any experience with these emotions knows exactly what happened. We did not need any gratuitous nudity or porn to understand the complexity of these emotions.

The scene actually showed more than the book where he entered her room, said he won't mourn Jamie alone then they wake up in bed together in the morning and talk. No need to see more on screen. It's very clear what happened.

I'm not surprised the actors had difficulty with this storyline. Gabaldon threw a curve ball into the story where we see the characters we have come to "know" behave in ways that are totally against what we believe them to be. To try to convince the viewers of the believability of this storyline is a big ask. I quite liked the disjointed frames of the "act". I reckon a lot of viewers would have been mortified to see a full-on sex scene with these two. I was glad We finally got to see more of David's acting ability and his fight scene with Jamie was terrific.

@@Theresebonath6077 I did not come up with that list. It is known as the “Kubler-Ross Model” for the stages of grief it describes. It was created by the Swiss-American psychiatrist, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a pioneer in near-death studies. It was her research that established the five stages of grief. Her most known work was a best-seller, titled “On Death and Dying”. We all go through the stages. The difference is that everyone has a different period of time in each stage.

I’m not going to watch it. Clair betrayed Jamie. She said she could feel he was still alive and then has sex with John? It wasn’t love, it was lust and alcohol. And she was looking for comfort?
