Thanks for watching everyone! I wanted to come back and redo this guide seen as the devs updated the game so that some of the strategies I used in my previous run no longer worked as consistently. This guide should have you covered with the most recent patch. If you're struggling to learn this run I recommend practicing on Nightmare difficulty because it's the same difficulty as Insane mode but it allows you to use checkpoints. I'm having trouble with the bow 🏹 guy when you walk aver the log . On insane mode a lot of people do different strategies. What would be the easiest way to do this. I try your way and it didn't go well for me until they unloaded the game ????

I just escaped from Marta in the cart section on Insane, and the game crashed 🤦‍♂️ Update: I finally beat the game and got the final three achievements at 01:14 on Saturday 25 May 2024. Thank you IFreeMz and GawdlikeMatt! Your guidance helped me finish _Outlast 2_ seven years after getting its first trophy.

I was looking forward to this Messiah challenge, this was my next achievement I was going for, after completing Mein Leben and Turophile Achievement. Unfortunately my game crashed at 2:12:20 before you exit the mines, I'm not sure if I'm going to give this another try, that has put me off. This has happened to a lot of people, broken game.

I finally beat it with a few tweaks from certain strategies in the video, i would recommend people try these changes and decide what works for them the best: -when nick and laird shoot at you when you get past the prone crawl under arrows, when you jump up to run you can hide behind the big rocks here after the first arrow flies by instead of full sprinting past(sometimes you die when full sprinting because the acceleration isnt fast enough) -when you are at the mill and you activate the lift and have to run to the elevator, i died a few times because i was doing the slides like in the video, instead try just sprinting and only slide when it is necessary and rest when you make the jump down then sprint to the elevator and to the mines you go.. so glad i finally did it!! Practicing individual sections on nightmare helped me find the safer strats too..

The chase sequence in the King of the Hill chapter is very very risky in your guide. You can even hear that the enemy behind you was so close at 1:49:38 that he took a swing, if you get hit your running speed decreases significantly. This is because you do the slide obviously. I died twice in that part of the game using this strat, then finally tried just sprinting till the end. Your stamina depletes (where you jump from the stairs; the part where you regain your stamina for a few seconds) and then they never once caught up to me this way, I did it successfully 10 times in a row on nightmare. Just a tip for anyone else going for this in 2023. Otherwise amazing guide!!

I think the game knows you'll run out of stamina so allows you to keep going. Sliding during the chase is a bad idea as there's already little things you need to slide under that you can use to repair stamina. Some bits do work like waiting at certain points but even then it's like 2 seconds max so it barely matters. Might as well sprint.

@@commander1suv492 Yes, I eventually did my Messiah run without using this strat in King of The Hill, just simply running through till the end. When you drop down you miraculously regain your stamina and it lasts you till the elevator and they never even get close.

I myself have died there before when originally trying to get the achivement. It sucks that they patched it because my old guide basically became irrelevant after the patch, that's why I made this one with revised strategies. Thanks for the kind words and for using the guide.

I was doubtful about the cave where the heretic drops down and chases you all the way back up and you just take the hit from the other guy but it worked and I didn't even take a hit anyway. Final update just got the achievements. Three things I would like to add 1st, in the very beginning be careful running too close to the guy that you first encounter because he will instantly kill you and it’ll be a waste of 7 minutes. 2nd before you enter the area where you get the rope follow his route but go all the way around to the left behind another building and there’s a girl who can grab you but stick to the left of the rocks to avoid all of the enemies so you don’t get spotted because if you do then there’s a guy waiting to punch you while you get the rope. And when you’re getting chased in the mine, the final longest run, before you reach the mineshaft elevator make sure to get as close as possible to the gate and when you reach the top of that building don’t jump on the platform allow yourself to fall down the broken steps and you’ll regain your Stamina after they jump on the platform also got this on my 6th attempt

It was all going perfectly until the one part you would never think you'd fail, killed on the raft section lol. For whatever reason the prompt for freeing yourself from the rock stopped showing up and I was attacked from an enemy on land. Going to give it another shot tomorrow. Thank you sm for this guide. I have played nightmare mode three times, then went back and practiced the hard parts 3-8 times, depending on how difficult I found them. I now feel prepared to take on insane mode without batteries to 100% the game. I will come back and update everytime I die and eventually finish! edits: first run - died while crawling/running from nick and laird arrows after running across the log. My character just did not run and I got shot... very upset but it went well up to that point. Here's to run #2! second run - died during marta cart chase... after my character slid under the fence, i turned around towards the fence and definitely crouched as i was not running, but instead it slid myself under the fence again, right into marta's arms

Tip if you dont want to chew up battery for the demon jump scare. Hide in the locker and wait for a minute eventually the demon will get you and trigger the door.

Damn it actually worked. I didn't get a jumpscare but whilst hiding in the locker, Blake starts groaning like he just got hit or something. I went to the door your supposed to move through and then it was open. That's so much more useful than being an idiot and walking up and down the corridor searching for the stupid jumpscare.

1:15:59 i died there because the guy was in the middle and didn't let me pass, if someone have the same problem i recommend waiting behind the house for 3 or 4 seconds so the guy will be more close and you can pass without problem.

Everything was going good- there were even many times when I was like “how on earth did I survive that” until…. Around 1:48:07 the game didn’t allow me to shimmy across the wood plank…. I fell and stared at the menu for 10 min straight. This happened 15 min ago- I am in pain. Might try again tomorrow, but that really made me contemplate trying again- other than that great guide!

If you turn your gamma all the way to is highest setting, you don't have to use night vision until the middle of Judges. That way you save more than half of your battery for Leviticus. Everywhere else is like 90% illuminated by natural light.

I went down twice during the Marta cart so I used a slightly different strategy (only because of my anxiety during that part) but everything else was spot on. Amazing guide and thank you so much.

1:11:00 Nick aimbots me every single time I just try took book it. He misses the first one but he always hits the second. Hide at the rock and bait him to shoot (look at his whole body then hide again) when he does shoot run and hide by the trees and repeat. Once he shoot the trees your 100% in the clear to book it.

Well if that works for you then stick with it. This is kind of why I advise playing through on Nightmare first so you can figure out the parts that might give you trouble and play around with them a little to see if you might need to do something else. Great guide, wouldn't have done it without his help. The only thing I did differently is I stayed low in the grass at the hook scene when Marta first appears, just stay low in the grass and she will fuck off, and then you run for the crack in the fence to get the hook. The other thing is when you first have to lose both heretics on your first descent into the mines. Do not try to get him to pull you out of the crack cause there is a chance for the heretic to hit you since close proximity. IFreeMz actually also suggested it in the video - lure the second heretic at the same spot you lure the first one, worked for me every time. After that, he will wander off somewhere else and you are free to run down to the mine cart. Anyhow, thanks for the guide, really helped me out.

Even with this guide it's really hard. I really hated the library chase scene. It really is confusing and makes me use my night vision more than I intended. I managed to reach the heretics but died due to no batteries. It's my 3rd time and really frustrating. Still give it a another shot though.

Slight easier method for dodging Nick & Laird when you have to run along the cliff. Definitely go prone and crawl the same route after you get done running across that tree. But after you stand back up you can simply peek out from behind rocks and bait him into shooting an arrow and go back into cover. He has a slight cooldown on shooting arrows so you can then go into the next piece of cover after you bait an arrow. I've found this very repeatable.

52:52 I’ve found that if you just stand still without using the camera, Blake will cough, the jumpscare won’t happen, and the door will open. It might not be the quickest method, but this part scares me the most, so to be able to overcome it without using night vision or having to touch the controller is a relief.

Anybody struggling with this, especially with the darkness. PUT YOUR TV BRIGHTNESS UP TO 100. I can't explain how easier this makes it. Places that were usually pitch dark with max TV brightness and max gamma settings become CRYSTAL CLEAR

There's a more consistent way for 1:09:05. You just have to wait next to the house where the guy shows in the video and wait for them to go, try to search for it and then go on Chapter Select and practice it until it never fails you.

Same bruh. I have no idea why it's happening. In nightmare I'm able to do it. I think they need to break the door without noticing you, otherwise they aggressively chase you and then you're at the mercy of their arrows, which are unpredictable. I've died there 4 times now.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the method you used to get around Val during the switch segment was way too inconsistent to be reliable on my end. I ended up developing my own strategy that was a bit safer. It's the same up until you hit the second switch. After this, instead of walking back and grazing past Val, I waited behind a wooden board in the area with the second switch until Val came looking and went back to where the exit is. I followed him, went back to where the first switch was and waited until Val patroled to the second switch area again, then went for the exit while he was gone. The chase scene before entering the mines also ended poorly for me. I tried to slide to conserve stamina like you showed, but this ended up giving the Heretics an opportunity to hit me. You can't escape these guys while injured, so my best attempt so far ended there. 2 hours down the drain. Great guide otherwise, but I would really like to find out who thought this achievement was a good idea and force them to play the game this way. See if they have any fun watching these long cutscenes over and over again. At least Outlast 1 & Whistleblower skipped the introduction for you if you die.

1:09:40 - I can't do this method. No matter what I do they keep killing me. I've tried this in nightmare and it works but in insane it just doesn't. I don't understand why this method is not working anymore. As soon as I get to the shimmy part they shoot an arrow to kill me. Its like they save the arrow just for me to be vulnerable in the start of that shimmy spot and then they kill me with immaculate aim. I don't understand why it's working because I don't exaggerate when I've flawlessly done that bit in nightmare 100s of times. UPDATE: It worked. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY DONT SPOT YOU. If they spot you then your fucked. If they bust down the door without noticing you then your free to run without them shooting at you. VERY IMPORTANT THEY DON'T SEE YOU - if anybody else is stuck at that spot, I was dying there continously in like 4 different runs.

That sucks... Turn your gamma all the way up and try your best to not use your night vision until the library maze in Judges. Its hard, but not impossible. Its best to conserve as much battery for the darkest chapter Leviticus.

I did it, I did a different strat on the cross staff lady pushing thing to stand on to get to church and the second corn field is different as well as the first one to take your time before running in and getting killed. At 2:15:30 I literally died to marta at the end when I turned left because she cut me off 😑 I will give this another attempt tomorrow This is the next day I completed this challenge it took me 2 hrs and 30mins this challenge took me 2 days worth of practice and 6 attempts

MARTA SKIP! - For anybody watching this nowadays, there’s a very easy way to skip the entire Marta cart section. 1) Start pushing the cart until you see Marta spawns. 2) Turn around and run and slide through the hole. 3) Turn back and face the hole you just came through and wait for Marta to walk right by it. Count 1…2…3… then enter the hole to go back to the cart side. 4) Now SPRINT down the left side of the cart and run into the fence as fast as you can. You want to headbutt it essentially. You should see your camera view glitch through the wood for a split second and then the music will fade away, and if you turn around Marta has DESPAWNED and the cart can now be pushed in complete safety. Enjoy! 😉

2:12:16 is the part where I died cause I had no battery left and got stuck on the walls it's the furthest I have gotten in insane mode. It absolutely ruined me i wanted to break my keyboard in half had to take some time off this game but I will keep trying

I don’t know if I did something wrong or if my game is on a different patch for whatever reason, but on the very last segment with Marta, she killed me as soon as I turned the corner where the door collapses in front of you. Suffice to say, I’m hurt :(

That happened to me too when I was practicing on nightmare mode, but when I respawned and did it again it didn't happen. Don't know why that's how it was but I just hope it doesn't happen when I go through on insane.

@@pigsystem So apparently if you wait a little bit after she starts chasing you, she won’t go down that way and she’ll just be behind you the whole time. Timing is everything in this game. I just beat it last night.

Bruh I died during the chase before you go down the elevator and the heretics caught up to me and I did what FreeMz said. I’m crying on the inside, but I’ll give it another shot tomorrow. Great Guide Tho.

I'm also working on the Messiah Trophy and I have died a couple of times in that section, I ran out of stamina during the chase. I figured out, before pulling the lever make sure you're facing towards, where you're going to run, also at 1:49:58 jump to the left instead.

Just completed another “Messiah” run on another account. Thinking about doing a 2023 guide. Freemz and Matt both have good guides but there’s some elements that add extra unnecessary time that can be avoided and others that are extra risky. Nick & Laird and the “turn around and look” Heretic in the mines. There’s a much better alternative which is safer and more guaranteed.

1:04:30 im so confused everytime I reach this & try to "go around the campfire" the lady on the log always triggers before I reach the bandage whether im crawling or in the bushes. Then some guy with a machete comes & is relentless just cant get him to go away?

practice the val skip at the end and you can do with chapter 5 no batteries. if you can reach the 5th chapter with literally 2 bars of battery. you can get the messiah achievement

Your guide was super helpful! But unfortunately I just don’t think I’ll be able to get this achievement, which sucks because I got energizer in the first game. The reason this is is because of the damn mines. I wasted all my batteries and died a ton (I was practicing on nightmare). They need to make this game brighter

Turn TV brightness or screen brightness all the way up. It really helps.
