I can't help but think of Tuco's profound words in; "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", "If you are going to shoot, shoot, don't talk". His friend, the marshall, wouldn't have been shot, if he had acted instead of bull $hitting the crooks to start with. This was okay, but very unrealistic. When the Dr. indicated the Marshal was alive, but needed to be in the hospital very soon, to survive, Nate should have known to end it as soon as possible, instead of trying to teach lessons to the proven, cold blooded killers. He and the town, the marshal and Emma wouldn't have been put to such risk, if he had killed the crooks as soon as they walked through the door, or at least at the first good opportunity. As a matter of fact, to me this was more than unrealistic; it was ridiculous, after thinking about it. I agree that this was at least twice, maybe three times as long as it needed be, on top of being ridiculous.
