* Update! * For most cases, it's must easier to use Dynamic Offset for the path you want to turn into the outline. I may do another tutorial on this.

Can't believe how easy it is. I just needed to add a white outline as a finishing touch on a T-shirt design to make sure the desing looks good on any colour print. Thanks very much!

i am not in tshirt business but if you do this white contour your cricut machine can't cut the design. you need to have a black outline to the white border. i need this to make stickers that can be cut on cricut..... i hope you understand me.

Hey, thank you for sharing this. I have a question. What if the main image is one as whole, cannot be ungrouped. For example, it's a copied image but the background is removed. So when I copied it into inkscape, I want to add the white outline for the shape. Is there a way to add the white outline? Thanks

You can do it with regular photos whose backgrounds have been removed, using the Paint Bucket tool.

This was what I tried at first before watching the video but it doesn't work if you have paths that are clipped to other paths, like if you're doing shadows. Any advice?

With the last plant, it is possible to outline so there are no holes? Basically outline the perimeter only?

How do you do this if your shape is a collection of lines and not closed paths?
@tutorialswithdila35847 ай бұрын
try object to path first

What kind of file format does this work on. I created something in krita saved it as a png. Uploaded it to Inkscape and it does not work. No groups to ungroup

Did you get an answer from anyone? I ran into the same problem.

Mate... :) Krita is a bitmap or raster graphics program, Inkscape is vector graphics. They work completetely different. You can open a PNG or JPG in Inkscape, but then you will need to convert it to vectors, so Inkscape can handle it. In plain language, vectors are lines with their connecting dots (called "nodes"), and "raster" (not the same as Rasta 😄) is a splash of paint.

You can do it with PNG images too. Use the Paint Bucket tool.
