The last item is a polishing drum. You'd fill it with the items to be polished (jewelry, rocks, etc), add a polishing compound and some sort of media such as leather, walnut shell pieces, plastic beads, or even steel shot (small bits of steel in different shapes). Finally you'd add water to the mix and seal up the drums. The drums then sat on a carriage consisting of an idling roller and a drive roller which was driven by a small motor so the drums would rotate. You'd usually do 2-3 stages of grit with a final polishing stage. Saves a lot of time over polishing by hand though usually you still needed to do a final bit of touch up after they came out of the final stage of polishing via the drums.

We had one of a similar size we used for polishing silver silverware at a banquet facility I worked at. Filled with ceramic beads.

The woven item with an aglet on one end that has an open end looks more like a cable pulling sleeve, you slide it over a able and use a winch to pull cables through underground ducts, works like 'chinese handcuffs'

I would say that is a fishing rod sleeve. I have one that is identical sold at Scheels all sports. The one in the video is meant for use on a spinning rod. That’s why it is skinny at one end and gets wider towards the opening because the eyelets on the rod increase in size as they get closer to the reel.

Exactly. I spent over 4 decades doing telecom. That is a cable pulling device. We used to call those a very politically incorrect name, I shall not use it here. Basically, like a compression stocking, when loosened up it can be slipped over the end of a cable coming off a reel and like a sock, pulled up. But when put under pull pressure through conduit etc, it tightens up to grip the cable. Like the old 'finger trap' things. Old Phone Guys will know what we called those!!

Last item is a rock tumbler. Place rocks inside and the rolling action knocks off the sharp points and makes the rocks smooth. Usually mounted on powered rollers.

I love collecting weird old things I find at estate sales and thrift stores. That pig tray definitely would have come home with me. I used to have a large, really ugly ceramic pig head made in Germany hanging in my kitchen. Unfortunately, I lost Porky in an earthquake that sent him flying across the room, shattering him into pieces. I want to visit that bookcase shown in the pic of the sauerkraut pounder! I love old books. My oldest are a set of 1770 books that list every known place on earth, countries, cities, villages, etc. It's interesting to see what ISN'T listed. No Texas, or many other states, because there wasn't even a United States yet!

The first item is for cutting meat....like a roast. I got mine as a wedding gift and I live in Canada. The part that is metal in the middle would normally have a vertical rod and there was a sharp horizontal piece with teeth that could slide up and down the rod to tighten the meat to the board. The groves and circular area were to collect to juices.

That's exactly what I thought it was too. It seemed so familiar to me, I'm sure I've seen it somewhere in my younger days before.

Item at 5:46 is not a spitoon, it is the top of a metal milk house can. The bottom is rusted off of it. Old ones that were damaged often got thrown in a junk pile back in the woods on farms. They always got filled up with dirt which rusted out the bottom half faster. If you tried to pick one up, you ended up with the top and handles just like shown. The tops also lasted longer because they may have been painted to show ownership protecting the metal longer.

I agree completely, it is the rusted off top of an old milk can. I have several cans from my grandparents dairy farm, and the tops are identical.

The first one is a Spanish ham stand and it is missing a piece that holds the shank of the ham elevated.

That "spittoon" is more likely the top part of a milk or cream can. Those two big handles on the sides would be out of place on a spittoon.

Plus, spittoons are usually brass, aren't they?

I agree. I have had spittoons and milk cans and this appears to be a milk can with the lid missing. Spittoons usually have a funnel shaped top with a much smaller opening to keep the spit in if got bumped or tipped.

The butter dish looks like it's from a time when it was common to churn butter at home. My initial thought that it was for cheese, because there were similar dishes for that. I was close on the spaghetti cutter, as I thought noodles. The handle is very similar that on a pastry cuuter/blender I have.

that clamp for the saw is awesome, they say necessity is the mother of invention. these days we have a machine for everything but we only modify stuff these days, make it automatic. The stuff old timers came up with was amazing considering it was most likely born from scraps.

I have no clue what the last item is but, looks like its lined with some sort of copper material, maybe copper lol looks like its designed to run on rollers rather than a belt or chain. the latch looks like it is ment to close tight and create a seal. it looks too heavy duty for ice but i dont think id be putting good silver in it to polish. im gonna say some sort of washing/cleaning machine. I feel like there's not enough damage to the inside to be something too heavy but there some . but it looks pretty heavy duty compared to modern stuff for like rocks, pebbles and crystals. i might be a little drunk and talking out the wrong end lol that was fun for a sec tho i still cant see any type of rock/ore crusher to look as nice on the inside
