Don’t expect them to get much quicker. Traction will be the limiting factor for acceleration. Quicker vehicles will require race slicks, you cannot drive on the road in slicks. Also the model s plaid isn’t to environmentally friendly with tires needing replacement every 15-20K miles.

Acceleration is the MOST important metric, not the least. Why? Because you can use it EVERY DAY, all the damn time. I use the acieration of my model 3 Performance on a daily, blasting off from the green light and weaving around slow drivers. Normal people do not have a race track by their house they can just track on all day, so breaks overheating or not perfect race suspension etc doesn't mean anything to me. Also what the hell do you two do for money, I'd rather hear about that. A Model 3 performance, a Model S Plaid, an Audi E Tron, previous BMWs, I made 175k last year you are making me feel like I'm a bag boy at a supermarket. is 160k subs really enough money for all those cars?

Increase your viewpoint coverage by switching drivers to get a different perspective from your wife. My wife and I are trying to figure out which of the two vehicles to buy. One of our vehicles is the X3 M40i. One of the two of those vehicles will be our first electric ⚡️ experience. It really would’ve been more helpful to have your wife drive and just listen to her impressions based on how she wants to drive. My wife and I drive totally different and we want to experience totally different things from the vehicle. Having your wife’s thoughts and seeing her drive would’ve really connected with my wife as we watch this together. Great Channel overall…… (umm, my wife needs to see more she said.) 🧐

If you’re used to a BMW, don’t buy a Model 3. I’m 80k miles on my second Model 3…first was totaled in a wreck, so I bought a replacement. I regret it and I’m selling it. The suspension is utter crap. It makes your X3 look like an X7 with air suspension. Seriously. Riding 4 up with my family, we are on the bump stops me my kids are bouncing around the back seat. The interior quality is a joke compared to BMW. We also have two Porsches and you will not be impressed. The seats, doors, trim are all very thin and light and insubstantial feeling. Finally, good luck with service. It’s a joke. And yes, EV’s do require fixing. The good: you won’t get price / performance anywhere near Tesla. They lead. You will get lots of OTA updates although the last 12-18 months are more bug fixes than new features. Supercharging on road trips is unmatched. If you’re long hauling and you want hassle free, Tesla is still the winner by a mile. Especially if your wife doesn’t want to think about it (mine wouldn’t). EV road tripping on the CCS network still requires patience dealing with out of service or low output charging stations. And finally…..Tesla is very easy to use. The UI is straightforward and very “set and forget “. It’s a good beginner EV. But so is the BMW since it’s more like an ICE car as long as you can charge at home or are adventurous enough to figure out road trip charging.

@@joetacchino4470 my wife is literally walking around saying Thank you, thank you, thank you for the details you responded with and you responded to her concerns that I didn’t even know she had. She told me she wants to drive around town doing her shopping and errands on a full charge and not worry. Ann Arbor MI is our area, (GO BLUE!). I think she is just having anxiety because it’s electric miles and not gas miles in which she is familiar with. We all understand instantly what a half tank of gas means when driving in changing conditions such as, (the driver that seems lost and you have to hurry around then, on-ramps in Michigan is akin to a pole position start in order to perfectly merge between other fast paced Michigan drivers. All of this is opposite the very controlled driving examples we see on YT. And yes, electrification is about change, and we will adjust and hopefully it’s a fast adjustment curve, getting rid of certain habits that should have been done away with long ago😂. However, I was leaning Tesla because it’s the original and you had two already, and many Tesla customers repeat because it’s the best sorted out car. My wife have said the issue is settled with us…. BMW it is. And I honestly think what you pointed out connected with her when you said, the BMW gives a certain familiarity that she already understands, which is very important to her. Her understanding more about BMW leaves only 50% more in the learning curve, instead of being 100% out of sorts. Me on the other hand…. I’m ready to get that first 100% charge at home and then go out experiencing running the charge down to 5% as I pull into a charging station. Lol 😂 plus Regen braking. And it seems like the electronics will help with our blinker indicator Usage. Although that seems like a Michigan thing but I could be biased. Lol 😂. (My wife walked out saying “running the battery down to 5% and your still out somewhere…. Not with me in the car). 😂 😂 Oh well, baby steps in some areas and leaps in others. I want to agree with you badly, since I have a fully spec-ed m50 order placed, but the Model 3 Performance is the superior track car. I am genuinely surprised that BMW's M division is losing to Tesla in that department. The M50 has a tendency to be front biased like the reviewers stated, but in something like an M3P, the individual can set the power distribution to whatever they'd like. BMW really needs to step up their software game and give user's more control over the M50 for the car to compete with a M3P on the track. I think they're intentionally holding this car's potential back in lieu of a true iM4 in the future.

@@rayaan6951 nah man. I just took delivery (well it's been about a month) of my M50 and firstly, it's not an "M" car and was never intended to be, so we have to manage our expectations as far as that goes. Secondly, the M50 for certain is more RWD biased and infact the front motors are mostly used to manage traction. I owned a first gen M3P before the M50i so speaking from experience, the I4 just better overall. I think folks who come from a Tesla genuinely feel their car is better because usually it's the first "fast(er)" car they've had and that's it... in real world driving, the i4 is superior. All in my opinion of course.

I agree that the Out of Spec reviews have gotten to be must sees. I just wanted to clarify something Kyle says in the video. Is he comparing the stock M3P to the i4 M50? I just bought an M3P after my BMW dealer told me my i4 M50 would be coming sometime in Q1 2023. I am still on the waiting list for the BMW, and have until my production # is assigned to let that go. I've really enjoyed the M3P, but I do feel that the interior lets in a ton of cabin noise, and I'm not sure if it's because there is no engine noise. I suspect not. I think I'd like the car a lot more if I could get it quieter, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to do that (especially in the Boston area) I'd love to know.

The 130 mph top speed of the i4 is likely due to having base all season tires. Usually the top performance tire option for BMWs raises the limiter to 155 mph. Tesla has the advantage of years of performance EV experience. It sounds like BMW needs to refine the i4 a bit to be truly the Tesla 3 equal.

So, comparing the i4 M50 to a Model 3 performance that you can't get anymore, the M3P that you can't get anymore without replacing the whole suspension (for $8K or so) will win, but the i4 M50 is a nicer overall car with a better build quality, so when comparing creature features, it is a toss-up.

I’m not sure I understand the question. The performance model 3 is AWD. It has been for years now. But in track mode you have the option to send the power wherever you want, whether it’s the front or back motors. But you have to be in track mode for this. Otherwise it handles as an AWD car unless you specifically tell it you want it to drive as FWD, RWD, etc.

To that end, I understand reviewers giving an opinion, but It needs to be based on facts. Let’s see an instrumented track circuit comparison, 1/4 mile drag etc. with the same driver in each car. Infotainment comparison, build quality, without making excuses for panel gaps, service calls etc. If you are serious about a comparison of these vehicles, I would encourage you to seek out additional reviews as opposed to staying in a Tesla bubble where you here what you want.

You are wrong. The BMW i4 is based on the CLAR platform (cluster architecture platform). On this platform BMW builds the same car with different drive trains; EV's, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrids and pure ICE versions (both petrol and diesel). This approach is cost effective and highly flexible as they can produce different type of cars on the same production line and react to maket demand right away. Both cars has OTA updates so that's covered. My personal problem with Tesla is the lack of configurations. Where is the HUD or black interior roofing, more colour options than black or white interior, sport seats or normal seats, sun roof to open and of course paint: You can get the BMW i4 in over 110 different colours. And the list goes on. Everyone emphasizes different things, but when I pay $90K I want the car as I like it. A mass produced black or white car, just like all the rest - that my friend - is pretty lame.

If you want to pay a ton extra for some leather and color options, by all means, People pay a lot for fancy hand bags as well, but the engineering is B class at best compared with Tesla. If you care about actual innovation and engineering, Tesla is 30 steps ahead of BMW. Mercedes, Lucid, Rivian, and Polestar at least built some impressive vehicles that take advantage of the benefits of EV, The BMW I4 is just a ICE vehicle converted over. Why even by an EV at that point, 240 miles of range with a larger battery than the Model 3 getting over 300 miles, slower, poor utilization of space, etc. The whole VW group is so far behind the competition, it's laughable. Even Hyundai has surpassed the VW Group. To be fair, I guess they are ahead of Toyota, but that's not saying much.

I have an i4 on order as of three months ago. Not so sure your comments about the BMW regen when backing off the throttle are correct. My understanding through other reviews is that BMW provides several choices on the level of regen braking, including an adaptive setting. If you don't like that instant feedback, you can dial it back. Further, it looks like Tesla has removed the equivalent capability from the Model 3, entirely. I would also add that most reviews point to the RWD BMW i4 as being better balanced than the M50 and the general driving experience superior to the Model 3 for both. I had the opportunity to drive a Model Y (my other buying choice along with an EV-6) and I found the ride to be harsh and the interior underwhelming.

I have driven both and I'm not losing one second of sleep over my decision. The M3P is a very good car but the overall experience of daily driving the BMW is better. I'm looking at the video and he has a 'D' on the dash most of I the time.
