I grabbed Rex and Ahsoka at Star Wars Celebration 2019 for $25 each. It was a great find! I also ran into Donald Faison and Bobby Moynihan who were also hunting for Black Series.

I want to get rex really bad but can't pay those after market prices insane! I have Bly and all the other Commanders and have the Bad Batch Rex but that's not the same as the old school banger Rex. Oh plus I have to get Fox. I might just break down and get OG Rex.. Wish they would re-release him.

Idk if they have moved on from soft goods kamas. Look at the purge troopers from Kenobi. I think when it's an ARC Trooper, due to the detail they just go with plastic.

I'm so happy I have both the Hasbro con exclusive and the photoreal. It really is one of the best figures and still holds up very well compared to many of their other offerings. To touch on the Bad Batch Rex, if you notice they swapped the lower legs. I reversed them, and it looks much better. The only bummer is now the tick marks are reversed.

I’ve got about 5 of these Red Box #59 Rex’s mint in box. I remember finding a bunch of them at GameStop and Ollies marked down to something stupid like $5, so I bought a bunch thinking I’d army build some 501s. I have 3 opened on my shelves (helmet on, helmet off, Bad Batch/Clone Wars shelf, etc), a couple mint in a protective case, and like 5 more in storage. Crazy I know considering how much this one became in demand, but eventually it’ll get re-released again and flood the market. Isn’t Rex pipelined for rerelease? Anyway, a classic figure with vintage “we’ll never see this quality paint apps/weathering ever again” details. 😬

...and just think - I probably wouldn't have this figure if my Rebels Hera Syndulla wasn't missing her boot holster - I would never have had a reason to contact Hasbro. And the customer service lady said, "I have a Clone Captain Rex I can send you for your troubles." And sure enough, they sent me the Hascon version free of charge. It is one of my favorite figures and certainly one of my favorite characters. I feel extremely fortunate to have him in my collection. It is indeed a BANGER.

The weathering on Rex is next level, even next to the other Clone Commanders, and how often do we get it that the mainline release is head and shoulders better than the convention exclusive?? I am so glad I got him so early on in my collecting days :)) great choice guys!

Hello Justin and Nate another banger figure that I don't have. I missed out on the original Captain Rex clone figure but I do own the Bad Batch version. Since I don't have the original Rex I'll have to take your word on how amazing that figure is. It would make sense for Hasbro to rerelease Rex and make some easy money, but the problems of the original's distribution and so many retailers cutting back on black series figures because of back stocks of sequel figures and Rough One's over production. These problems caused Rex to fall into major discounts at Ollie's and 5Below. I missed him and now that Hasbro has different paint applications we may never get this figure available to us again, but I'm hoping. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this figure gentlemen I appreciate it. Take care, Tom Toilet Paper, I can only think of Denngar the only figure I out right refuse to get for my Black Series collection. It's interesting that for awhile his Red and Black box was going for $80 or $90 dollars, and now his Archive is going for $13 to 18 dollars. Oh how this lack luster character has fallen. IMO

To this day this figure is my best in the wild find. I wasn’t lucky as some finding him for $5 at Ross or whatever but I did find him for $30 at a local retro toy store. He’s great. Only downsides are the pinned joints and the chin showing thru the bottom of the helmet. I just got fives and completed all the arc troopers and am now displaying all of them and Rex without their helmets on. First time I’ve displayed Rex that way since I picked him up a couple years ago. They look so good together on shelf.

rex/bly body is a masterpiece. only improvements is to use the 2023 clone versions legs, cause it has better articulations. i hope they do an archive release for fox and rex, the only two commanders i dont have yet

This Rex figure is so good. I have the Bad Batch version, but it just doesn’t compare! This Rex and Fox are the two Black Series figures I’m truly missing from my collection. Even though I’ve been collecting since the line started, I didn’t watch TCW until 2022, so I was never interested in those figures. Since then, I’ve tracked down all the ones I wanted, except for Rex and Fox! Hopefully I can get them one day! Can’t wait to see you guys rip on Farmboy Luke lol. Also loved Nate at the end, lmfao.

Just started dipping into black series a bit more with transformers my main hobby being slow at the moment and just bought a pre owned captain rex for ninety dollars on ebay , Yeah I know taking my chances with this but I have bought older transformers figures for close to or more before and so far all my ebay purchases have been great so I'm definitely looking forward to this figure .

No it would of been Jango Fett , Darth Vader and Jyn Erso back during rogue one and only picked a few here and there over the years it wasn't until recently that , I been getting a little more into collecting and with my income tax I was able to get Rex , Jesse and Fives and a few others that got me into the hobby a bit more

I love the figure but wish his chin didn't stick out of the bottom of the helmet 😅 I was hoping they would fix it for the Bad Batch version but i think it's just the sculpt of the helmet and the shoulder pads that kind of get in the way of each other or something. It's a great figure though! I hope they do a rerelease so more people can have the chance to get one

Love this Rex figure. Anytime I do shots of him I can't resist getting upclose shots because he hits so good with the weathering and sculpt. (Thanks for using my photos my Bro's!🙏) I think the soft goods Kama on Rex is the perfect kama for the line. I get that Echo for ex: needed the plastic Kama for all the sculpt on it so it works but would love a return to soft goods version in the line. In comparison to a figure from the same era like let's say....FARM BOY LUKE 😉, Rex is lights years ahead for sure! Great Episode fellas.

Hold your horses. The orange weathering lines looks terrible and nothing like Rex in Clone Wars. It looks nothing like weathering should do. But the other weathering looks great.

That’s not weathering. Those are accent details on the helmet. They are blue in clone wars but more of a bronze in rebels and live action I believe. -Nate

The "bronze" comes from the fact that he modifies and welds his Phase I helmet. Those are weld lines if I recall correctly. -Justin

@@OutOfTheBasementOne more thing I reacted on and it made the figure feel cheap is the paint chipping on the figure is pixelated, creating a blocky, digital look in areas meant to show natural wear. Instead of smooth, realistic flaking, the details have a pixelated appearance that makes the weathering look artificial, especially up close. This effect detracts from the intended realism, as the chipped paint appears more like a low-resolution print than authentic battle damage.

I remember back when he came out I wasn't into BS, I only had Greedo and Boba Fett at the time, but I remember seeing Rex for like $20 on Amazon and I was like "pffff it's Rex I gotta get him."
