I bought the 34k collection for about $3 a book. It has lots of great stuff! Lots of work but hoping to 2x or 3x my money. It’s all silver bronze and copper mostly marvel. Tons of keys like hulk 180, asm 252 (multiple copies), asm 361, nm 98, asm 129… the list goes on and on.
@patriotcomics Жыл бұрын
Oh wow! That’s awesome! I knew there would be some great books in there. Congrats!! How was the condition on the books? Those boxes seemed to be in rough shape which made me worried about the books inside!
@eggplantcomics8336 Жыл бұрын
@patriotcomics the condition was mostly VF some better some worse. Old boxes mean old comics!

The problem is that if the person was an actual reader/collector of their collections for the most part they might not want to get rid of it but are in a position where they have no choice BUT to get rid of them. In these instances the person doesn’t care what FMV is because to them the only thing that matters is what amount of money THEY are willing to let it go for. It’s a delicate matter because even if and when the person does their due diligence and looks up what would be considered FMV and try to sell it for THAT price, anything BELOW that they will take it as offense, disrespect, or getting taken advantage of because the reality is is that people in the comic collecting or collectibles community LOVE to low-ball, it’s sad but true. So obviously NO ONE wants to get taken advantage of & wont let go of anything until the price is exactly FMV or even a little more if and when possible. It’s a sensible topic tbh.

I get it. There is a lot of interpretation in Facebook Marketplace listings. I don't worry too much about the price they have because I have had so many people tell me..."I just put a number on there" Recently, I went to see some silver age comics and the person had $1500 on it. After talking to her, she took $500 with no problem.

@Markus465 Жыл бұрын
And those comics aren't "rare" by any stretch. LOL $2.50 a book, though? That's not a crazy bad price. Unless the condition is total crap.
@JC-dg6vo Жыл бұрын
If someone is throwing out CGC in their ads, then they know what they are doing. These are "feel sorry for me" ads implying you will be taking advantage of them if you hurry. Large collections, with no keys, the average shop or collector will pay 10 cents for each book. Especially if they are copper to modern. If they have semi-keys or keys 80/60 (80% of raw price, then 60% of that) and unless they are blue chip, not all keys are created equal, no top dollar. If the books are not water damaged, chewed on by bugs, pissed on by pets, smothered in nicotine, covered in mold, mildew or some weird fungus, warped from humidity, covered in melted bags with acid backing boards that make the book smell and you can prove they are all in NM condition, then you pay more.

That massive collection would be ‘fun’ to negotiate with, but that size takes time to go through and if they want it gone fast, they’re gonna have to come down just a little bit

My thoughts exactly! Definitely would fun to look through though. I can only imagine what’s in there.

There were 10 comics in the Wolverine lot, not 9. Value depends on which issues are there. The seller sees $3.99 and $4.99 on all new comics, so why wouldn't the older ones be worth that much or more? They are older after all... It's no mystery. They found a stack of books that they don't know what they are or how to price, so what's it hurt to ask cover price of current comics?
@paulcastillo4587 Жыл бұрын
I looked at a 1000 book collection on FB and the seller priced at CGC prices guessing their condition. Came down quite a bit after we talked but still wanted $25 for Danger Girl 1. Didn’t buy anything

I've noticed that most people now that are selling their books are looking for $3 a book, regardless of the book. You might get a few keys or a few minor keys, but most of it is crap. I'm wondering if all these videos of how expensive some books can be is influencing these people who think they can get $3 a book for a collection of 20,000 books, let's say. I mean, there's a sucker born every minute so maybe they are hoping of landing one of these suckers?

$1K a box is about $4 a book if you say the box has 250 comics. I dont have the disposable income at the moment, but I'd take a look through them out of curiosity if any of them have runs that are highly desirable or good condition Silver/Bronze age keys. If not and its mostly dollar bin fluff thats definitely a rip off 😂
