The Igbo People Of Cross River State Nigeria || The Journey Back To Isobo Community

Isobo is An Igbo community in Cross River State, They are mainly found in Obubra Local Government Area with Three communities, Otaka (Isobo Otaka), BikoBiko (Isobo Biko Biko) and Ezomezo (Isobo Ezomezo).. The Isobo people are predominantly famers, their major farm produce are Rice and Yam. The Isobo people are also found in Yakurr and Abi Local Government in Cross River and Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Isobo is part of Igbo mainland but was cut off when Gowon reshaped the Eastern Nigeria by creating East Central State, Rivers State and Cross River State. Successive military administration further caved out part of Abia State to join Akwa Ibom State. They did alk this on purpose to make sure Igbo Heartland is landlocked without having access to the ocean frontline and also to deprive them from having crude oil deposits. But now, there are many discovery of crude oil in some South East states.

Enugu has coal too. The Igbo areas of Delta and Rivers also have oil. All of them have palm oil begging for development and export: the Nigerian state governments are not interested.

Yes; if they have basic amenities. I used to know an officer from the north in late nineties that was posted to orlu. He said the best of the village life was the smell of nature...the trees and morning dew. He isn't familiar with such vegetation coming from sahel/savanna region. 😁😁😁I also know some ladies that said they didn't know we are jungle people. They were terrified of the village...they were there for the first time for traditional wedding. Again they aren't used to such dense vegetation.

There is a reason why almost all Cross River governors speak Igbo, from Imoke to Ayade and to the new one Otu. For them to be able to speak Igbo fluently explains Igbo was widely spoken back then. Same way you see Gov. Fubara speaking Igbo, same with Diezani Madueke, Goodluck Jonathan and many others. Even Asari Dokubo speaks Igbo.
