Andy, stone-faced: "the views of Dracula Unleashed on mental health do not reflect the views of Outside Xtra LLC"
@TheYorkRose Жыл бұрын
Just imagining Luke phoning Andy and saying he has had a rough day and Andy heading over with a blunt weapon to "help" 😂 (Funny insertion of a disclaimer but defo also an important point when oxboxtra are so great at this stuff and the 90s and 19th century were somewhat less good 😂)
@MsCunningLinguistic Жыл бұрын
@@TheYorkRose i think they strike the perfect balance of not letting problematic depictions of stuff ruining the mood of the video, but always shining a spotlight on it. They tend to default to obvious awkwardness and pointing out the nonsensicality of it all, which makes it easy to laugh along without feeling like they're minimizing it. 🥰 "how are you gonna gender this, Goosebumps?" / "I dread to think" is one of my fave examples of this, from the very first (iconic) FMV Zone video 😆

I remember playing this game as a kid, how nostalgic! And then having no clue what to do, so there was a lot of guessing. And dying! A couple of recommendations, in case Luke or Andy see this: 1. Try failing on each day. There are some pretty great (and funny) death scenes for our good ol' protagonist. 2. After you finish the scene, CLICK the journal and then CLICK THE PEN. Alexander Morris will write in the journal, explaining what happened in the scene. Oftentimes, this explains a lot more than what you actually see in the scene. And no, this is not at all obvious. Good ol' FMV games. :)

Well, the Dracula Novel is canonically a collection of journals, newspaper clippings, receipts, and audio recordings. So it's basically found footage. And part of the story is the group collecting all of those records into one collection. So it's definitely possible that a version of that collection got put out as a novel.

Gosh, that actor does sound so much like Matt Berry! This does have a bit of a Garth Marenghi air to it… Oh, my goodness. The accents. They’re the true horror. (BTW, Asylums in Britain at that time had shifted to a much more modern system, with nursing staff encouraged to be patient, gentle, and to listen to the residents. In fact there are well documented cases of released patients voluntarily re-admitting themselves, showing quite clearly that the barbarous practices of the past were firmly in the past.)
