Having been to India five times, staying with Indian friends in many parts and working in a School for the Deaf….also a big Bollywood fan…when I first saw this movie I was amazed that an American made movie about India that actually got it right! Funny and decent…I can watch this movie over and over.

I think this movie was stereotyping Indian culture in some ways: Indians have long hard-to-pronounce names, Indians are only people who just subjugate Americans to their culture with Indian dances, music, and rituals, showing poor places of India, and that Indians don't use perspective-taking. I don't really care about the film that much. 😔

The food, movies, different areas (If you’ve had your fill of Lucknow, there’s always Ludhaina! I know a boy from the Lawyer caste!) Recently blown away by Pakistani Quwwali music, only to have my heart stolen by Pashtun songs, with their tin drum. Boredom not possible.

The 2000s and 2010s were a tough time in America. 9/11 just happened and China was admitted to the WTO which fueled globalization. Most the capital that would normally go into the US was going to China. Also, the US was in two wars. The capital that came in was mostly going to real estate which along with bad government policy, it fueled a bubble that popped which made things very rough for the 2010s. The wars and the bail outs caused the US dollar to devalue massively. Now the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine are somewhat reversing globalization. I hope this global inflation gets better.

Watched this movie back in 2008 or 2009. I never knew that I will become a call centre employee later on in life. When I saw the call centre life myself, I would often recall this movie as I noticed the similarities shown in this movie wth reality. But there were many exaggerations too, like that cow standing in the office building, or the half built office being operationalized. Today I watched this movie again and relived those memories. Old times.

Somehow, this movie just made me sad. Everyone's jobs get outsourced so Big Corporate can exploit workers wherever they can be most exploited, a good number will never find a living wage job again . . .but it's all good, right? @Spring Lemon I think the wealthy and powerful are hitting the rest of us from every angle possible in their bid to make the majority permanent peasants.
@rogerjenkinson79793 жыл бұрын
@ Natalie Williams. It's called Capitalism. Uncontrolled, all the wealth (= power) ends up in the control of the Few ,who then control the rest of us. Basic economics teaches that Competition between many companies is great for consumers. but the way to make the most money for the least outlay is to have a monopoly or artificially create one (Branding Advertising) then Outsource production and staffing to the cheapest possible area use the cheapest components that will do the job but can't be repaired if it stops working and price it at " whatever the market will bear" ie. luxury prices. A nice shiny Apple , anyone?
