So a bigger front bumper on the Arrma is bad, but a bigger rear bumper on the Traxxas is good? Plastic above the Traxxas shock tower provides protection, but in an Arrma it causes damage? You don’t have to buy EXB diffs, spend $200 more, and upgrade the Kraton RTR. Just get an EXB from the start. It’s in the same price range as a Sledge and is the fairer comparison. THEN the comparison becomes much different. The EXB has the better front bumper, LSD diffs, thicker arms, 7075 aluminum everywhere including the chassis, shock towers, chassis supports, etc. How do the Sledge’s plastic chassis supports and shock caps compare now? While you try to sound fair, I think a bias and motive are showing. Time will tell which is more durable, the Sledge or EXB. But by comparing to a Kraton RTR instead of an EXB, you’ve already decided to make a video that will put the Sledge ahead.

@@hayden199516 I have no bias. But this video was predetermined to promote the Sledge over a Kraton. He compares to an RTR Kraton and complains it needs $200 in upgrades. I really enjoyed this video. You explained so much about the Sledge and gave me many of the answers to many of the questions I had about the vechile. So much so that I am no longer going to trade it for something else which I had been strongly considering. Having owned several Arrma's I had been wondering why Arrma vechiles seem to have a "looser" feel to the wheels/driverrain with more wheelspin and/or rotation when either initially engaging or taking your finger off the throttle during different driving conditions. Conditions such as cornering then releasing the throttle and accelerating, there is more play in the wheels. I did not realize that the weight of the diff fluid is the cause of that and that Traxxas uses a heavier weight compund. It almost feels like Traxxas vechiles require more steady engagement of the throttle in some instances which now that I know there is nothing wrong with the vechile I am completely fine with it. I recently had gotten pretty used to the Typhoon 6s and Talion so I had been comparing it to them. Sometimes it is nice to have that but understanding that better really helped out.

I like the plated springs on the Kraton. Won't rust as easy as the Traxxas springs. It also looks like the Sledge might have a suspension tie bar that is painted or anodized blue. That would be a big improvement over the xmaxx where the tie bar is plain steel and rusts out like crazy. Overall I think these trucks would be way better if the manufactures paid more attention to corrosion protection. Makes it look nicer longer and easier to work on later.

Can confirm, getting the broken screws out of the diff case when that Kraton's bumper breaks is indeed a pain in the derriere. Though it took mine a high-speed head-on impact into a lighting post to break that thing. Surprisingly, nothing else broke. Thankfully, the front hinge pin brace (the red piece right behind the bumper on Kraton) can be easily pulled out when the screws break, so you get about half an inch of bolt to hang on to with pliers. Other than that, been fairly happy with mine :)

Nice video! You made some good points, but after viewing several Traxxas Sledge video's, I've decided to pull the trigger on the Kraton EXB, it is more for me (while its on sale this month). I've been into R/C for more than 25 years, and at this point I want everything customizable, especially in the electronics area. Traxxas made a great "safe" truck that anyone can use out of the box, It really does look good. For the price though, the lack of suspension adjustment is what kind of bothers me, as does the overall weight, and small battery tray. Moving the camber link on the towers, is not the same as being able to adjust the over all length. IMO, it may be over priced, and should be around $650-$699 range. In this video a question is asked, is $200-$250 between the Kraton V5, and Sledge really worth it? Yes, definitely for some, but for only $200 more than the Sledge, you can own the King of the Traxxas line up, the Xmaxx.

I was really hoping you would review this truck. I love my E Revo just like you but the Sledge answers every one of the weaknesses (very few lol) of the E Revo and then some. I was surprised the Sledge wasn't more expensive to be honest. But it does "look" like it is going to be worth it. Only a dozen or so bash sessions will tell us the truth. I've already started saving for mine. Thanks for the video. And thanks to Stockbridge Hobby store.

I have around $1k into my Kraton 6s exb. I love driving it but it breaks more than most of my other RC’s. That sledge looks tough. But that new fireteam is tough too!

Based on what I have watched in other videos that compare these two as well, I believe the Kraton has proven to be much better. Cheaper, better built what else can we ask for?..
@DashzRight2 жыл бұрын
Based on absolutely 0 facts? How is the Kraton better built or much better? Have you bother watching disassembly videos? Arrma gears and parts are thin and small. Not to mention it is a pita to deal with body clips and straps for the battery, no cage inside the body, and a pita to disassemble compared to the modular designs of traxxas.

@@DashzRight people in the 70s that were fans of Dodge Ford and Chevy used to say similar things about Toyota…cheaply made, poor design, not beefy, expensive parts, poor metal, won’t hold up, hard to work on….turned out those critics were making excuses and brand loyal and therefore biased and Toyota went on to be the biggest automaker and the most reliable. My point, some of these comments are biased by brand loyalty or shop loyalty. Design is only a prediction and usage is the real test or validation of the design and consumers will make the final decision with their funds

You can make the rear a-arm debris guard out of lexan very easy for the Arrma. I made a pair and they hold up well.

I just randomly came across your channel via KZbin search. ( I subscribed ) Great video and side by side comparison of the two vehicles. I think also part of the lawsuit Traxxas used against ARRMA was they infringed on some patents.

Getting a RTR kraton is kinda pointless. Just get the exb roller. Traxxas made like an extrem bash version to compete against the kraton then the comparaison would be better against the EXB’s RTR. I have yet to hear someone who is a fan of the exb RTR. I was able to build a kraton exb and get it running for 75-100$ more than the RTR but i have every upgrade the RTR doesnt have. The chassis both bent so far. Both wing mounts are wear items. The fix people have found for the wing mounts on the arrmas are 3D printed wing mounts from 3D RC. Made out pf TPU the RPM are more flexible and durable than the factory mount but still break pretty easily. Tbone is just too rigid and breaks other stuff

It should be compared to the Kraton 6s EXB only! The EXB would be about the same price and is way better, period.
@Reecefpv2 жыл бұрын
Looks like it might be possible to flip the motor towards the back and relocate the esc. They do it to arrmas all the time. And look like it might just be possible with the sledge. I gotta look at it some more. But they need to just make these motor braces for all sizes with adjustment height so we can do this for any trucks. Iv searched and searched for a support or even a 3d print that cradles it.

The sledge looks cool , my only issue with it and traxxas, is I feel like the sledge is made to compete with the kraton rtr, exb, and the talion , however again traxxas makes it cost more then those 3 other vehicles. At 800 bucks you are only 100 or so away from an xmax or 8s arrma. I know you gotta still buy batteries and charger etc, but you gotta buy those items anyways no matter what vehicle you buy. Why can't traxxas make a car that is better ,stronger , for the same money? Or at the very least use an ec5 connector so you can use batteries you already have without changing connectors and shit.

Great comparison, you pointed out some pretty significant differences. First person I've seen to point out the adjustable camber and toe on the Sledge. When you look closely at the details, especially the motor cradle and chassis bracing, you can see why its worth paying extra. Aftermarket braces and motor mounts can easily cost $200 to add. Add that to upgraded diffs and it starts to make sense to pay more up front. Hopefully the Sledge lives up to its initial impressions. I'm about ready to put down a deposit. Thanks for all the info
@andyb99942 жыл бұрын
Im gonna get one also... although I don't put down deposits anymore, my hobby shop always has the cars once they are released, I used to put down deposits and then there is always more of them sitting on the floor. They are getting 25 Sledge's so I will definitely get one, can't wait...👍

Optional mounting locations do NOT adjust camber or toe! They are for adjusting "camber gain" roll center" and "ackerman angle" Very technical adjustments.

An aftermarket motor mount for the K6s is not $200 dude
@codejunki5672 жыл бұрын
Also diffs are a weaker metal, so them being bigger does not do anything.
@Alphabet72 жыл бұрын
KV doesn't matter at all it's just the rotation of the motor. The simple way to judge how powerful a motor is is simply by size to be honest unless you want to get technical size is probably the best teller of performance

Great video, , I didn't know you was in GA or if I did i had forgotten.. never been to the Stock bridge hobby shop but have heard good things. I personally like Arrma over Traxxas, I ran Traxxas for many years still have a Rustler and Stampede 4x4 but we play with the Arrma Granite and Typhoon more and just ordered a Kraton and Notorious 6x bls. My Granite takes a beating and keeps going where my VXL Stampede would have already broken so many parts. maybe the new Traxxas stuff is better I don't know. I don't really care what brand folks like as long as your having fun.
