Hiring an editing team just completely changed my life for the better. It took time to find the right one but I feel that I did. I can double of triple my amount of shoots and have time to do all the things I didn't have time to before. Like mowing the lawn, afternoon golfs or just anything really. I edited flambient for a long time and noticed Im very picky with things which would add time to sitting in front of the computer. I do still add lens corrections before I send them off and touch every single picture after receiving them from the editor before delivering it to the clients. The editing team I picked does amazing work. Then I put my own spin on them at the end. Maybe a total of 30 minutes of work before sending them out. Its doubled my income with some weeks even more. I no longer have to tell the clients "Im booked up" because I know I'll be editing all morning. I can schedule more shoots, make more videos and not lose clients to other photographers from not have more available times during the week. I was working into the night a ton editing from the days work. Days are gone for that. I get to plan things with family in the late afternoons and have free time do just be free. And to be honest the photos now look better by finding the right editors. I raised my prices just a tad so it now pays for the editing. Its a decent expense during tax time that gives me my life back to be more productive in work and do the fun things in life that don't require me sitting in front of a computer for hours on end. Absolute game changer for me and my clients!

Spot on my friend! That’s what I don’t understand, who would want to turn down shoots and stunt the growth of their business?
@richardhugginsrealestateph71322 жыл бұрын
@@InsideRealEstatePhotography I’ll admit. It was weird sending them off to other people. That only lasted a week or so when I realized the photos turned out great and I was done with work for the day. Was afraid to raise prices but it’s on average about $30 a shoot to pay the editing team. Like you said. A no brainer after turning down a ton of business because I was swamp with editing. Thanks for all the great videos by the way. I can’t imagine how much time you put aside to create these videos.

I work for a property management co local in my state. I’ve thought about outsourcing some of the photography but they don’t do a good job and it takes too long going back and forth. They crop when I tell them not to, get the colors wrong etc. If you need an editor, interview within our country and get to know them so they know you and what your expectations are. Overall, I would recommend doing it yourself. More importantly, work on getting realtors to pay properly! That’s really the issue! They have no idea how much work it really is for what we do, nor do they know the cost of equipment and computer software. We need as a group to get them to pay better and stop underselling your services!!

Thanks for adding your input to the conversation! All valid points and concerns. It’s definitely a process working with the editors until they get it right. Takes time for sure.

Yes i totally agree. Every real estate photo looks edited by one editor. 😀 Any emotion on photos and alot of mistake because they do cheap . 1 hours editing one house ? One photos takes me 1 hours to edit some time . I sent also sometimes editor but they edit neutral after I color grade and fix the mistakes.

I currently don't outsource my photo or video editing because I have the time to do it. But if I get too busy, I will definitely outsource it but they better look better than my editing! ;-)

I agree with every single one of your points. Know the craft, whether HDR or flambiant. if you just point and shoot the camera and have no idea how to edit it, it's quickly going to bite you in the butt. often I refer to this channel on forums asking about editing. Because of volume, I have moved to outsource my run-of-the-mill shoots and focus like you on video, high-end, and expanding my business. because I have time now to expand my business, play with my kids, and be able to back to the gym to better myself again. there was a point it was just too much. the place I use is 95% happy with their edits, and I add my final bump in Lightroom to make the photos pop a bit more. the cost is with it to me because now I can take on more jobs in a day. Great video Mike!

Exactly how I felt. I got bogged down with flambient though. I had to move on to video and drone so I bracketed and out sourced. As soon as I could I came back to editing flash and now I only have to send out a few things that I have not learned yet on occasion. But I am not over worked so editing is something I have time for. More than a couple a day with video and I would have to consider an editor again. A lot of new photogs don't even know what to look for in a set of photos. I knew being a life long salesman that the sooner it was my own work I was selling the better I could offer my product. Thanks Mike. PS . For newer people I still think having a relationship with an editor to stand in the gap for you on occasion is a very smart choice.
