I drove past this line in the mountains in January and went to the casinos in black hawk and there was several abandoned trestles and tunnels along the river, and then the remaining section that still exists was super cool to see!

Wow! This is just beautiful! Gotta love the Rio Grande!

Thank you! I agree, the Rio Grande is narrow gauge railroading at it's most iconic.

Excellent work all round: track-plan, scenery, structures, trains, sound, backdrops, figures, vehicles. You have maximized the space available to produce very pleasing scenes and an enjoyable layout.

It`s great to see sonmeone else is in the Sn3 buisness here in Europe! I bought some Sn3 stuff , but never made it to a layout. You`ve done a great job on yours, thank you for sharing. Andreas

Thanks for the compliment. Sn3 is not common in the UK either, although there is an Sn3 club layout in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Nice layout. Proof you can build great thangs in small spaces. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your kind comment Rob. One of the reasons I chose Sn3 after many year withl the other scales was that it seemed the best solution - large enough to see the detail but able to use 28" radius curves if needed.

Thanks Ray, I appreciate that! Sorry for the rather shaky start with the titling.

Mate you have managed to make this railway as good if not better than the real thing the narrow gauge railroads are so scenic that the trains are the actors on the stage as Tom miller once said regarding his layout and that's how it feels watching your videos really interesting and inspirational
@micksavage4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comment Noel, it's much appreciated. The layout is in effect divided into several scenic 'stages' reflecting different aspects of the original railroads.

Yes and it's extremely well done too mate . Every thing just blends well it is not overdone at all the locos and rolling stock also are very realistic

Hey Mick, Your layout is really cool and your rock work and snow scenes are fantastic. I model in Sn3 as well and have a similar space for a layout. Do you mind sharing some information on the specs. of your layout, such as minimum radius and gradient of the inclines. Randy
@micksavage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy, thank you so much, I appreciate your comments. The snow is from Woodland Scenics, most of the rock work is flexible rubber from Cripplebush Valley Models. Some rocks are cast from W.S. moulds. My min radius is 28" but I've gone bigger wherever possible. The gradients vary from 2½% to 4% with one short section at 4.5%. My K27 #463 is the best hauler with 14 cars! Entry to the layout is via a 48" duck under. I hope that helps.

Great layout and rolling stock! Only, a little weathering could enhance the realism.
@micksavage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your compliment. I completely agree about weathering. At the time I made the video I had just begun to weather the cars to remove the 'toy train' look.
@Lakeside19432 жыл бұрын
@@micksavage that will be great ! Our biggest problems are time, time and time. And of course, there's always more than one car to weather.
