I've seen girls mix races then act like thats a horrible thing around other white men. Even asked not to tell. It's hilarious when group friends get together an talk about the worst hos in school with using behavior not names. An there's the one silent 35yrish woman. Women love to lie an hide their past unless it works for them. They are tailored young that they are weak vs men. So must try to outsmart an lie. Problems they are each others competitors not sisters! So they have no real ppl in their lives. Why? Because they are fake themselves. 🙄 few years ago was w a gf. She told her mom I lived further away to avoid taking her to her brother house. Uh seriously 😐 you just met me month ago an telling your mom lies about me? What am I supposed to say if we meet an I'm asked where I live? Huge red flag

@@angelofknowledge9389 there are actually a lot of different southern accents as people encounter when traveling around the south. I'm from Durham, NC. My accent is different from a coastal or mountain or wealthy Virginia accent. I don't know where she's from, but her accent when she was younger sounds more twangy to me than a slower drawl. While it is common to describe a Texas or maybe a Kansas accent as a twang, I think it can also describe a sound from a string instrument. I tend to think of drawl as more characteristic of some slower paced, drawn out, deep south accents (more common among white folks) and then also some wealthier accents that could be from Virginia or wherever.

WHY does everyone NOW, say good “0N” you?? Instead of like IT was ALWAYS said, for decades and decades, as good “FOR” you?? WHY IS THAT??
@hotelbellamuerte
@hotelbellamuerte Ай бұрын
@@foofookachoo1136”good on you” and “good for you” mean different things. “Good for you” is commonly used to congratulate someone for an achievement or if something good HAPPENED to them. “Good on you” is used to commend good behavior/to praise someone when they do something noteworthy. For example, if a friend got a bonus and raise at work I might say “good for you!” to generally congratulate them for the increase in pay. Alternatively, I might also say “good on you!” to specifically praise the hard work they did to earn that raise. “Good for you” can also be used in the same context as “good on you”, and it often is, but “good on you” is still grammatically correct. “Good on you” is also more common in British English, which is where it originated, whereas American English favors “good for you”. Hope this helps.

@@foofookachoo1136 I'd like to add, if I may, that "good for you" can (now in any case) also be used sarcastically in a negative or passive aggressive way to convey envy, anger or dissatisfaction with a person or situation. For example, "oh you got a raise, did you? Well, good for you because I didn't get one". However, "good on you" as far as I know, is always positive.

There was a song she wanted played at her funeral as well as songs we listened to together. I couldn't listen to those songs for well over a year. I just couldn't bring myself to do it bc I knew I'd break down. Finally I was able to listen and when I drive by her old place I jam out to them lol sometimes I cry. Well most of the time I cry. Other times I sing and smile bc she was my friend and I was blessed to have had such a wonderful friend. I miss her tremendously and I always will. My condolences to you. Grief is a tricky thing. As a southerner, I love hearing it from her so much in the older clip. (Most times I only hear sad fake accents from movie stars & it feels patronizing or stigmatizing.) I'm also a little sad that she most likely had to cover it as part of cultivating her movie star persona. Hopefully it's just that through her career other accents have simply rubbed off on her more. There may be other people that worked on it and didn't even get credit for it because you have to change it a certain percentage. B funny! Action!😆 I read somethin recently that said the only thing true about the movie as a realistic portrayal of prostitution was when Edward asks Vivian what her name is and she says whatever you want it to be baby.

Just came across the exact quote: She had switched into someone who was not herself and her young son saw that. As has been well-documented in psychological investigations of other forms of torture, overwhelming cruelty results in fragmentation of the mind into different parts of the self that observe, and react, as well as those that do not know about the harm. Sara's dissociation was an escape strategy to handle overwhelming fear and pain by splitting that off from the rest of her self. This harm is made particularly difficult to see because of the invisibility of prostitution's harm to women in the mainstream media. A woman in prostitution told me that the one line in the movie "Pretty Woman" that was not a lie was when the john (Richard Gere) asked the prostitute (Julia Roberts) what her name was, and she responded "Anything you want it to be." In prostitution, she is depersonalized; her name and identity disappear. She shuts down her feelings to protect her self.

As a complete tangent: It was a similar case with the movie Ghost. it was originally written as a dark, sappy drama. Almost like a proto version of The Crow, with Brandon Lee. The test audience found it to be too depressing, but Whoopi Goldberg's scenes were getting big laughs. So the studio decided to change the focus of the movie. They did reshoots where she was free to do even MORE improv comedy, and they decided to add in the whole scene at the beginning of the movie in order to make her a much bigger part of the story. The movie became a hit and she won an Academy Award for it.

She's as kind as she is beautiful. I had the pleasure of meeting her and she chatted with me for a while. This was back when she was married to Lyle Lovett. I worked security for one of his shows and she "tagged along." None of us backstage could believe she was actually there. We were all giddy as could be. She gave me her autograph and interrupted Lyle talking with a group to have him give me his autograph, too. I still have them. It was surreal!
