Most senior journalists that have reached that certain point in their careers, when invited to become part of a news team on televison can without any enhancement appear gray haired, and if allowed to, the entire newscast team could be so populated by gray haired journalists. That has not happened yet, but we can find an entire news team that have been ‘youth hair dyed’, or in avoidance of that, only one member is allowed to appear gray haired while the rest are ‘youth dyed’. The exception to this rule is the CBS This Morning news team in which we can find all are hair dyed, wigged and toupeed.

Locally, with respect to the women of ABC7 WABC News and NJTV News, I celebrate them as they ‘man’ television newscasts that once upon a time there were none, today, many exclusively, except many still must bear the burden of being a woman on television, meaning, appearing hair dyed and ‘greasy lipped’…Just ask Sandra Bookman and Mary Alice Williams… and so many others…that seemingly have not ‘come a long way, baby’…
