I knew Combofiend was good, but to do this to Poongko?!? Damn! He has always been one of my favorite players.

Got to respect players that win tournaments. They make a name for themselves and suddenly the world is watching and over-analyzing their every move. Evo should be a great tournament. I hope there is a lot of great footage collected.
@Panthro-lo2lh13 жыл бұрын
After watching this whole thing, its good that Poongko caught this deficiency here. I had no idea Guy was his Kryptonite. Seemed like none of his usual rush down tactics worked, either because of hitbox issues (he dropped that riverdance so much he stopped doing it at the end of his combos) or he wasnt expecting that kind of priority on some of Guy's moves.

Much appreciated for the upload. I was sad to hear that Combofiend was going to drop Guy for someone else (forgot to who) and I was very surprised that I got to see his Guy in action against none other than Poongko himself and did really well. There was some execution errors (I'm ass with execution myself) but he still managed to pull it off. Props to Combofiend for sticking with Guy at EVO.

9-6 Combofiend in the end. I suspect if they kept playing Poongko would have evened the score, but both are really good players. I enjoyed watching it a lot because I've just recently picked up Seth and I'm starting to learn Guy as well. Very informative. I didn't know that you can't stop Guy in the corner...gotta remember this...
@NatanWS13 жыл бұрын
@Phantom90xXx seeing how he missed everytime in the corner, I think guy's hitbox is a little diferent so the headstomps don't work. Too bad, so many resets and mix-ups oportunities lost because of that.

@sinekonata From half of the Video you can see how Poongko is reading combofiends mind. It also looks like that Poongko didnt know the matchup against Guy that well. You see how poongko is trying to stomp after the spin kicks in the corner. Actually you cant stomp Guy cause of the weird hitbox he has. Also there is different timing into save jumps after you got a SPD. Near the end when poongko figured out this matchup he wanted to continue, but combofiend left ;).
@SeraphicKnightX13 жыл бұрын
@RuLeZ1988 You can head stomp on Guy after hyakuretsu in the corner, it just requires specific timing. It's still not that hard to get all 3 stomps and the dive kick to connect you just have to leave more time between the first and second stomps.

i think at the beginning poongko didn't know the match up, you can clearly see how many times he missed his dive kicks followup on the corner like he didn't know it doesn't work on guy, plus he was trying to find ways to beat guy's ex kick i forgot what is called, he was adapting to guy as the session goes on.... that doesn't mean combofiend is ass..... he mad good with guy

@neonvega You DO know that it wasn't just Poongko and Combofiend who played those matches? Poongko loses when his usual shit doesn't work. In this case, there's no headstomps. When he loses to Evil Elvis, it's because he can't FACD shoryu as a block string because Rose's backdash avoids it, along with a tandem engine. Poongko only wins because he forces you into situations where you're forced to guess, not to mention Seth's command grab and the best Shoryu in the game.

@3sin713 жыл бұрын
anyways on the match great plays from both players. Korea and Guy represent! WHOOT! both are really offensive and since guy has more health than seth and both have a similar damage output i think thats why poongko lost quite a bit in the beginning. but guy is weak against grapplers and since seth has a special grab poonko figuresd it out and used it quite a bit in the latter half. last match was sick and lots of great stuff in this vid. nice upload.
@tukk313 жыл бұрын
@RuLeZ1988 Actually seth can do the stomps on guy in the corner.. the timing is just weird... and guy vs seth is actually a bad matchup for seth, so that was giving poongko trouble.. not to take anything away from combofiend tho...

@peffico13 жыл бұрын
@RuLeZ1988 You are kidding right? There's at least twice through this whole match where he gets the stomps on combofiend. It's a different timing, but it can be done like stomping Cammy in the corner. The whole problem is though that Guy beats Seth fairly easily. 2 players at almost equal footing proving tiers right here. Also Combofiend is a beast too.
@Siepher8313 жыл бұрын
LOL, around 12:30 did anyone hear Mike Ross vs Bryan Pumper in the background?
@Panthro-lo2lh13 жыл бұрын
@supaboy47 I think he was getting cocky afterwhile. After the first few sets it looked like he started sandbagging, then when Poongko would take a set he'd crank it up again. Poongko didnt look like he knew the matchup, and Guy's hitbox is different, as well as his priority (tatsu got a lot of mileage). Poongko couldnt do stomps on him the way he normally does because they'd miss. It was just an all around bad matchup for Poongko. Had this been a tourney he'd have been done unless he switched.
