Thank you for sharing your story. I had er+ breast cancer, lumpectomy and radiation, no chemo. I chose not to take any prescription medication to prevent recurrence because of terrible side effects. My mother died of ovarian cancer and several relatives on her side had breast or cervical cancer. Genetic testing showed that I don't have either BRCA gene. I'm scheduled to have surgery to remove my uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes to decrease my cancer risk and also because I have cysts on my ovaries and unusually heavy bleeding during periods. I also had very elevated levels of CA-125 the last two times I got tested. Crazy as it seems, I'm less worried about getting cancer if I don't have the surgery versus what is going to happen when I am instantly put into surgical menopause. I'm already grieving the anticipated loss of libido and scared about sex being painful among the many other menopausal symptoms. I won't be able to do HRT because I've had breast cancer. I'm worried that the rough periods, cysts will have been nowhere near as bad as dealing with the abrupt loss of hormones and the onslaught of other menopause related symptoms. I'm about to turn 50 and my surgeon said I'll be in menopause in a few years anyways so it's not a big deal, but everything I'm reading and videos I'm watching indicate that most women who have had this surgery regret it because the menopause symptoms are really bad.

It’s 2020 and I’m in remission from ductile breast cancer and I’m really considering the ovaries removal as well.i don’t have the gene for breast cancer but to prevent any reoccurrence I’d rather do this then taking meds for the rest of my 40s(I’m 42 now). This was nice to see this testimony to know what it may be like for me.

I’m having an LBSO (Laparoscopic Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy) surgery on June 14,2023. I’m kinda excited (in a good way) of having this surgery. I have suffered enough down there. I’m 58 and never had children but to fill the void, I have a cat and I’m a collector of reborn dolls. Those surely help.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m 34 and about to have a surgery to have my ovaries removed. I have already had a partial hysterectomy, but I keep getting these massive cysts on my ovaries so they are just going to remove them. I’m most worried about going into menopause and Al that comes with it. I’m a stay at home mom with 3 kids. I’m so worried about the depression and sadness that comes along with it. I have never dealt with depression before.

I'm trying to decide whether to go through this as well. Do you feel your energy has tanked or is it unaffected? I am extremely worried for this and also if I will not be as feminine, lose curves, grow wide neck, mustache etc. I'm freaked out it will change me, so much that I almost rather live with the risk. Scared!!!

Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Iv wanted everything gone for a while now. I recently found out I have cysts on my ovaries. If I can I'd like to at least have my ovaries removed. I'm currently in bed with a heating pad on my abdomen. I woke this morning around 8am in excruciating pain & went to work anyways. I left an hour early bc the pressure got so bad. I had a theory I thought maybe I was constipated so I used a suppository nothing. I'm currently on my cycle & sometimes get pressure just like this but it doesn't usually last 12 hours. I'm done having kids. I'm 36 I have 2 boys so I'm good. I really want this part of my body if not all my reproductive organs GONE!!!!!!!! Iv heard your hormones are never right after a hysterectomy well mine are out of whack anyways. I have no sex drive I've been had hair growth in places I shouldn't so I couldn't give 2 shits about any of that. I cannot function with this pain & pressure. I have a full time job & 2 young kids. I get it I completely understand your hesitation to loose all your reproductive organs but I just can't deal with this pain. I have more important things to do than be in pain every single day of my life. I need this done ASAP. Tell me is this something most insurance covers. Any advice will be helpful thanks.

Hanaa youssef sorry to hear. I had breast cancer and in remission. Really considering this procedure so I don’t have recurrence, don’t want to do any meds. Sucks I’m going to have to go into this “phase” a lot sooner but you gotta do what’s necessary for your health. Did you end up w breast cancer too or did you get a cyst?

Awesome video, I can relate to so much. I had to have my entire reproductive system removed, with the exception of one ovary. I experienced the saddest you talked about, but in time it did pass. I lost my cervix, since then I can not have internal orgasms, but I can still have my external orgasms. (For me were better😉) This is just something I wanted to share. Hi Kate, in my experience so far, mostly no. I had one ovary removed a month ago, along with a little bit of the other ovary removed as well. Although I'm not a doctor, you should not need HRT as long as you still keep a portion of one ovary. My first period post-surgery is extremely light, so hopefully that gets a little heavier, but not much negatives to mention. Best wishes to you!

Cindy Horst no Cindy I don’t regret the timing of the surgery. What I truly beleive contributed to all my spreading is the chemo that kicked it off two years ago in the first place.
