ive ran 2 antique crawlers, the first was about a circa 1953 international TD9 dozer, and the second was a caterpillar 933 loader, circa 1960 both were equally busy to operate and required really fast operation on the controls to get some work done! whew! they were fun for a little while but Ill take my john deere 455e any day over those hand clutch manual transmission machines for daily work!!

Saw two of those at a coal mine near Waimate New Zealand about 70 years ago always wondered what happened to them eventually

I wonder why most of the LO's were converted to petrol - Ok gas. did the diesel give problems? I believe the diesel engine was designed to idle on only two cylinders.
@MrChevelle83 Жыл бұрын
id guess they were much easier to start and got the job done so gas it was.

@@MrChevelle83 Here in the UK diesel has always been much cheaper so a lot of people were more likely to put up with being harder to start!

Would've been nice to find out why it has three exhaust stacks. Some detail please. Your videos are getting pretty generic. Thanks.

Due to the legenth of the motor, they used 3 sets of 2 cyl heads. This eliminated the problem with breaking of those super long castings.

If this crawler only runs on gasoline then it is not restored.
@RJ1999x Жыл бұрын
Feel free to buy one and bring it to full restoration
@Hogger280 Жыл бұрын
@@RJ1999x Funny that you choose to take offense rather than acknowledge the fact. I made my statement because of the many machines(especially steam locomotives) that people "got running" but claim they have restored; they have no ideal of the meaning of restoration, which is to bring back to original specs. and full functionality as intended by the manufacturer.
@RJ1999x Жыл бұрын
@@Hogger280 I merely pointed out, you can buy an L and fully restore it, I've done plenty, and it's very very very expensive. I took no offence to your comment, I'm telling you to put your money where you mouth is, and you seem to find it offensive.

That's not logical. He said he only ran it on gas. He didn't say that it can only run on gas.
