Yessss!!! Thank you! Finally a realistic approach to doing makeup over 35. I am 37 and have noticed the same thing you describe. That what works on younger skin looks terrible on me and makes me look so much older!! I'd prefer myself with no makeup over how it ends up. Thank you!!

Late bloomers! Lol. I haven’t worn much makeup my entire life. Never could wear mascara. However, at 62 I am giving it a bash and enjoying the process. I’m not totally worn out with trying and I have decided to purchase mostly chanel because of its healing properties. I agree, I am trying hard not to use too much. I’ve always felt that unnecessary foundation on young skin spoils a woman’s natural beauty.

Stick with the less is more philosophy and your skin won't age as quickly either. I have always worn very little and even though I am now 36 I actually look younger than women I know who are 10 years younger than me. I'm not joking about this but I get asked by 22-25 year olds at work alllllllllll the time "how have you kept your skin so young?" Because they see more wrinkles on themselves than on me and my answer is always the same... "I don't wear a lot of makeup and don't wear it every day."

It's easy to cover up under eye areas when your in your teens or twenties but so different when you're in your 40s and 50s! I'm sure that less is more in the cold light of the normal day! Love these tips!! I feel like 75% of makeup on KZbin would look horrendous in natural light or real life even, including early 20s or late teens. Like you pointed out about how thin the skin is, adding layers and layers and layers looks like exactly that. There's girls that I would have sworn were in their 30s, shocked to find that they were barely legal drinking age.

I am also plagued with fair skin and very dark under eye circles. We are a similar age and I love how your under eye area looks. I have always used the Maybelline under eye Eraser but I was using too much. My eyes always looked 20 years older than they needed to. I bought the Mac Prep and Prime in the lightest shade and the Laura Mercier Brightening Powder. I apply it the very same way. My under eye area now looks phenomenal. The Mac Prep and Prime nearly covers them on its own. I will never be without these products in my arsenal. I also save about 15 minutes a day applying it in this manner. You hit the nail on the head. Slopping on all the concealer like a makeup KZbinr looks amazing under the right light conditions, and from far away. But I've tried it on my 34 year old self... I’m a couple months shy of 40 years old. When I was in my 20’s, I wore makeup to look older. I believe that is kind of the point of younger girls wearing makeup. Without makeup, I looked like I was 14 until I was almost 25. I don’t wear it very often anymore. It’s never kept me from getting a job, it’s never influenced any important decisions in my life. My husband still thinks I’m beautiful and sexy. Less is definitely more!

Only 23 here but I love this approach. After struggling with my skin issues for years (particularly very dry), I've been left with a more aged undereye area than most of my peers. But I'm also an insomniac with really pale skin so my undereye circles are a real struggle. This is such a good balance for covering up without caking on. Thank you!!!

I do that too also using your finger to press the concealer in the skin and you can spray a mist of setting spray before or even after putting the lightest amount of powder on your sponge I've found that pressing and kind of Rolling the sponge really helps. If u have wrinkles nothing gets rid of them that's just it but this method doesn't highlight them either. Wayne Goss is an amazing artist with all tips for older women and non KZbin rather for everyday women and it's changed my life honestly bc he knows his stuff ladies!! Good luck

I am probably older than you are, and my eyes are darker underneath, too. I use a combination of Bare Minerals powder--Fairly Medium, Well-Rested, and Mineral Veil. As you said, liquids have a tendency to hang out in lines and creases, making them seem worse. I agree with you that less is more. I tend to go in with the stuff right after applying undereye moisturizer or serum. I should be eating more stuff with Vitamin K, Beta Carotene, and getting enough sleep and water, but am not as good with self-care as I need to be. Thank you for sharing. You are very pretty, and I like the way you explain how you came to your methods. It's brilliant.

There are a few ways to do it, Steph. The best and more effective way that I have found is to apply undereye cream first, then very lightly dampen a concealer brush and put on a shade lighter than regular skin tone--but not much lighter. I use Well-Rested. I dab more than brush on, so the product will go more over the top and sink less into the bags and creases and circles and what not. You can apply foundation before or after these steps. I've done both. My preference might depend somewhat on the seasons, as my skin tends to darken during Spring and Summer, thus making lightened undereyes look perhaps not as natural, so the foundation going over it could compensate for that.

I think this is good for ANY age. Also I've seen not only younger YTers slap on tons of Make-up but also much older ones too. One can't forget they're in front of a camera, often times with special or non natural lighting, so it's one thing to be in front of a lense and another to see it in direct sunlight. 🌞😱Anyone of any age with some common sense will tell you, less is more.

BloomingBlossom - Pixiwoo are pretty good for this too, they’re both in their mid/late 30s and there was a really good skincare routine video for over-35s on their channel recently. I love Cora from Vintage or Tacky too. Seems most people doing makeup on KZbin are super young and just about doing drag makeup (don’t get me wrong, I love drag as an art form, but I don’t know why every 20-yr-old girl on the internet needs to put on a full face of paint stick just to pop to the shop!), but there are some older ones too who keep it a bit more real. I’ll be subscribing to this channel too, on the strength of this video 😊

I have the same issue, I can honestly recommend the best thing you can do is to drink at least 2 quarts of water a day, maybe closer to 3 depending on your weight. This is the best anti-aging thing you can do for yourself and your skin besides sleeping well... And I don't mean sleeping face down honey!

Rubiicela Rosebud...Always apply eye cream twice daily at least, morning before make up and at night before bed, even if you are staying in and not wearing makeup. always apply eye cream after washing your face. Never rub your eyes or pull the skin around them when applying makeup. Don't put powder under your eyes. Sleep on your back enough hours as early as you can. Drink water. Don't make exaggerated facial expressions often. You will be 50 looking 25 without make up.

Its so exciting to see someone else using the very same technique I use for undereye coverage. As a person over 40, these are the very tips that I use for myself. I am 24 and I've never applied a concealer like a youtuber! Most of their make up tutorials are useless to me. They don't even have dark circles but still apply so much concealer on, what's the point. Why don't you try to take care of your skin instead covering all up so then you can use less make up. Less is more when it comes to make up

yes! most of them dont have dark circles at all!! they just use concealer to brighten the area, and they use such a bit amount of the product! its so bad for the under eye skin! People who really struggle to conceal their dark circles (like me) and have to wear concealers everyday cant exaggerate like that because it makes the skin even worse! The more you use it the less natural you will get, then the dark circles area will pop out even more!

@@PamperedWolf i hear you. Mine are inherited. A lot of the time it is. I sleep well ( as everyone knows) 😂 i drink lots of water and eat well. I also have lupus. But our whole family has them. My girls are ok. My son has them. As uou said work with what you have been given. When uour older less is more. I do get a few eyelash extensions as i cant apply false eyelashes for the love of god. It makes a use difference. Plus the only comcealers i may use us rimmel wake me up haha. Or age rewind. Apply lightly. Plus that acma powder is a miracle. I just tap a tiny on Its no miracle but helps.

Thanks for this. I'm 73 but feel 35 and sometimes act 12, but my under eyes are horrible. Bluish-purple. thin skin. wrinkles. I have yet to find a concealer that works and doesn't settle into the wrinkles. I may try this one. Love all your videos. PS: hate admitting I'm 73 because it shocks me. Luckily most people I meet think I'm in my 50's so I still want to look nice.

I use the Revlon Photoready Corrector Pen in Peach (probably a bit similar to the MAC), or the LA Girl Pro Conceal in Peach, then Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Breathable Concealer in 200 Light and then the Laura Mercier Brightening Powder which works well for me.

I recently started putting my under-eye concealer on before my foundation and it has made such a difference. I am 30 and still use some of the 'younger youtuber' tips you mention but do agree that in general less is more. And you don't have very obvious undereye circles/discoloration so while your make up obviously brightens it, I doubt most people would notice if you didn't wear anything. Please can you do a video about under-eye creams? I'm a new subscriber so if you've already done a video on it then no worries.

Yes!!! So true. I honestly think if you saw those people in person it would look heavy and cakey I think it's just lighting that makes it look good. Everytime I try to do my consider like that even when I was younger and to tell you the truth I really don't even have under-eye wrinkles yet but it looks terrible

I hate how the other younger KZbinrs draw that upside down triangle and say that it's the important part but when i tried it , it looks so unreal and doesn't even blend with my skin. I'm 18 (and got dark circles due to lack of sleep) and I think this is not for just above 35 it's for everyone!!!

I just watched your video (well, better late than never ) and you are so right. Only I don't use powder at all and it's quite all right, it holds for at least 8 hours! So I guess it all depends on the concealer..

I'm 32 now and there's no way in hell I can put concealer on like some gurus do (damn their smooth skin) I can't go for a matte super full coverage type anymore, or it looks like I've artexed my face, I need a medium to light coverage and a good setting powder. No more artexed under eyes I'm not wanting to look older than I am or like my products were supplied by B&Q

I’ve never done my makeup the way most youtubers nowadays do it, they waste too much product and sure it looks fine on video, but it looks horrible in person. I miss the early days of KZbin when people did legitimate makeup routines with actually useful tips, as opposed to today’s who-can-be-the-most-extra.

The thing is, "less is more" should apply to any age, if the concealer is full coverage then a little goes a long way, if you add to much like that triangle method that everyone seems to like do then you're not really blending it out, it just ends up being a cakey layer that you are trying to dab away with your beautyblender.

What a refreshing tutorial. No one should apply all that triangle concealer topped by a ton of powder to bake (under your eyes of all places) unless your the age of 15. Don't get me wrong, baking has its place in the cosmetic world, but not under the eyes. I have yet to meet anyone over 20 that I cant spot baking or a lot of powder under the eyes. EVERY single line and crease shows and if you wear glasses......it's magnified. I never understood where this procedure got started for anyone older than their teens.

Awesome. Can the same apply at 50😁 . I use the same concealer and the rimmel concealer which has a little pink in it. But im told at my age not to set. But i have white powder which is amazing. A 50 yr old tutorial would be awesome. Bty stop saying your middle aged. We arent in the tudor period. You dont even look 30 lady. Wait till you hit 50 and everything goes south east west . Dries up. Crapes. Wrinkles. Oh my lord. Thats age darl. Your young and beautiful. Embrace it. Heres a trick i use. I buy rice flour and use it as a light exfoliant. Its great its cheap and is a natural sun screen. I made up a mask of milk and rice flour. Put it on my face. You only leave it 20 min then wash is off with warm water. You can feel your face tighten so much and helps with spots pigmentation blah blah. Anyway i put it on my face and i fell deep asleep. Didnt wake till 7. It was like bloody cement to remove. However my skin felt and looked amazing. But id never do that again. 10 wash cloths later and it was removed. My daughter thought it was hilarious. 😣😣😣😂bloody hurt. 😂😂😂

I just discovered your channel yesterday and I love it!!! I was looking for foundation reviews and application and I found tons of videos for younger women, so their advice and products didn’t necessarily worked for me. I am 42, I take good care of my skin and don’t wear much make up most days, only a little bit on the eyes, some concealer and brows (and sunscreen) just to look alive Lol, but also like to get all dolled up sometimes and want a natural look, but I have some melasma spots I need to minimize. I really hate the feel of make up on my skin, the tightness, the heaviness, I don’t want to have to touch up later. Sooo, I was looking on videos to help me find my make up routine and yours are the best! Besides you are so pleasant to listen to, and go right to the point. Thank You!!! I am learning a lot.

i have dark circles since a kid, so ive started using concealer since about 13 years old. but i agree that most of girls my age (26) dont need it at all. I definitely wouldnt use it if it wasnt so bad, because in long term these chemical products are harmful for the delicate under eye skin, so the more you use it the worse your dark circles will get =/

I'm 37, and don't need to conceal anything. Just need to know what foundation works as a less is more. Only one layer of foundation, be it powder or liquid. Powder has never worked for me. Brings out all the flaws and enhances them. Maybe a light liquid foundation is all I need, then the eyes, lips and a little bit of blush for semi formal occasions.

You could try out Maybelline FitMe foundation. It's pretty nice. And best kept secret for lipstick? Wet & Wild matte, believe it or not. It's like $3.00 and stays on quite a while. Add some light mascara and it will be complete in about 4-5 minutes. :)
