I'll be turning 50 in January and can attest to the fact that harsher blush will age you. I didn't realize it until I got so many comments about how much younger I looked one day. That evening I realized that I had tried a new blush that was a light pinky-peach color rather than the berry color I normally wear.
@OriginalPinkbird Жыл бұрын
Good point. A berry toned blush can look dated. I forgot about that.

Let me say this. When I turned 60, even 50’s rules changed for me. I’m 62. I’ll share my tips. Press and dab into skin it’s a must. No drag or pull. Powder use a dab or even finger under eyes. LESS IS MORE. I hardly wear foundation I don’t use around mouth or where wrinkles are just what’s left over-Blush is hard. Use , but lightly build and then blend into skin so no lines show, no heavy liner or like heavy black. USE highlighter, only a slight glow , (if you have pores or wrinkles ) also the dark sides of nose like heavy bronzer. Blending. Be light handed is the trick. Even now, I can’t wear as much as I did.

One of the best tips that you've touched on here (and in other videos) is that as we get older we should be going for a softer look. As a 64 yo I find using harsh colors and lines calls attention to the products, not my features. If I want to go for that "pop" or use the newest craze that's great - but I may need to modify the application techniques to achieve the end result I want. Thanks for helping us enhance our looks and making our outsides match our inner beauty Risa!

I completely agree with the #2 tip using light foundation. When I use foundation that matches me perfectly, I look like a ghost. I usually go the next darker shade that matches me and then I use powder which usually lightens it. When I look too pale, bronzer doesn’t help me. I completely agree and glad you mentioned this!

One uses so much more foundation while using brush- no that the foundation reaches the face but it is left on the brush. Brushes no matter how much you clean them are full of bacteria. If you dab foundations with light application with your clean fingers, it works a lot better bcs when you was your hands before application the first few layers of skin cells where bacteria are sitting gets desquamated off. Same eith palates/trays and sponges.

It took me a while to ditch the heavy black eyeliner. Now I reserve it for metal concerts and festivals. It definitely accentuates the wrinkles and makes my eyes look smaller.

Thank you Risa!!!! I love your videos; they’re like my makeup bible. I’m 52 and you have helped me more than you know. I’m hoping you’ll do a spring look with drugstore makeup this year (I’m on a super tight budget). Again, thank you for all you do!!!! Debbie

At 70 with still oily skin, I am over foundation! I am tired of my oils bleeding through and giving me an unprofessional look. My new try is experimenting with tinted SPF and layering on a primer that is oil controlling. I am really pleased with Milani’s Erase Base with 2% salicylic acid. On top of that I put a little bit of concealer. It gives me a look of lighter make up and less oily skin at the end of the day, especially my cheeks and chin. I’m on a budget, so do not have access to the higher end foundations. So far so good. It’s good to break out of the box. There are not a lot of influencers my age with my Problem, but with improved skin care over the past three years, my pore size and skin clarity is much improved. Thank you for your great videos!

I love your tips, I use my old technique but my makeup still looks good. I actually use my blush brush as my powder brush and place it on my oily areas and the excess on my cheeks. I remove a lot of the blush etc before applying so it isn't caked on. Thanks 😊

I am 68 and I just love makeup and I love applying makeup. I hear people say, “why do you wear makeup if you’re just staying home today?”… Because it makes me feel good and why not!!!! I have never tried false lashes because my husband would most likely tell me I look ridiculous with them on. I have always wanted to try them and I will. I don’t like how extensions look plus they’re very pricey. I love all your makeup tips. Thank you for this video♥️

I'm amazed an old Duck like me, is doing all your tips (except lashes) mine are still black & fairly long. Lots of love & keep us all up-to-date, from a small country town in Australia.

I have been using skin care products that brighten skin tone so I found my face and neck were visibly lighter. I match my foundation to my chest color and I then have an even skin tone all over.

I use one squirt of the lighter and one squirt of the darker and I get the perfect amount and match of foundation for me.
