I've changed my makeup routine in many ways in the last decade. Thank you for sharing yours, Lisa. I cried on my 40th, not because I was 40, but because the time from 20 to 40 flew by. Therefore, I knew from 40 to 60 would go by even faster. I was right! The older we get, the faster time flies. Enjoy every age. It's an honor to age because many are denied it (my father and brother are two). I will always love makeup no matter how old I get.

That is so true , and really makes me understand the verse from Holy Quran . He (Allah/God) will say: What number of years did you stay on earth? They will say: We stayed a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep account. He (Allah/God) will say: You stayed not but a little, if you had only known! (Chapter 23 verse 112-114)

I do prefer affordaple makeup products and spend more in skincare products. Many products are too heavy. My skin is greasy and in harsh scandinavian winters dehydrated. That gives own problems for makeup. i need good foundation. Wich i prefer from Max factor 3in 1foundation. I have neutral undertone. It stays pretty well with good preparation.

I'm 51 and have just started to embrace that, well, "the barn needs painting." I have been a makeup minimalist my entire adult life. But, age is changing things. That's not a bad thing. Aging is a privilege denied to many. At 51 I feel like I'm learning how to put on makeup (well) for the first time. Thanks for this video! Now I'm going to run many of your recommended products through EWG's Skin Database to see which ones fit my toxicity risk tolerance of a score of 5 or less and purchase was passes muster. Fingers crossed on the blush because that looked amazing.

I so agree. I am now 75 and have outlived everyone in my immediate family - my father, my mother, my older sister and my younger sister. My brother, who is 6 years younger than I, had a double lung transplant 6 years ago, due to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, the same disease that killed my mother and my two sisters. Luckily I inherited my mother’s Black Irish olive complexion, so I have never had to wear foundation. Consequently, I enjoy applying different eye makeup combinations. I have small eyes with small eyelids (luckily no hooded lids), so I have to be careful not to close off my small eyes with too much dark shadow.

Im still here! And 44 yrs young! less is definitely more. I’ve switched to patting almost everything in. Even tho I have hyperpigmentation and dark under eye circles, when I use the tiniest amount it seems to have the most effect and flattering look. I feel prettier that way. Also, brows-I push the front hairs up but the mid-tail end have to go sideways and/or down to cover the bare spots. Fill in the rest. Great awesome video! Thank you!

One of the most effective change I’ve been doing is to remove the creases in my concealer before I powder. It’s made a huge difference in keeping my under eye smooth. I do the same for my eye primer as well and it prevents my shadow from getting patchy. I like that you explain the use of your brushes since you’d be the best to know which ones to use where. 😅

Hi Lisa ❤ This was such a wonderful video. I needed this tutorial. I've been struggling & haven't been putting enough time into making the best me. So many reminders about how to approach my 63 yr old skin & being kind to myself & my look. I think a new every day foundation is needed. Lightness of all the products is so important to me. And I thank you for the comment about having the right tools. I only use your brushes (Angie's set too) and I think it's time to rethink how I'm using a given brush vs the effect I want. Your brushes are designed to be so versatile I think I really needed the reminders to think about what results I want & best brush usage. Thank you for really doing an eyebrow tutorial! So many times it's glossed over quickly & it's a struggle area for me. Thank you. You are such an amazing teacher. I absolutely loved this through tutorial. You've given me a truly wonderful experience and gift with this video. Thank you!!❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you sweet Lisa, for sharing your changing makeup routine. As I've gotten older, I've found that less is best, especially when it comes to foundation. No more harsh black eyeliner, but rather the NYX liner in the Bronze. Out of all the liners I have, that's the best. Eye makeup is softer, and I choose most times to go with lip liner and a gloss. Light bronzer, blush and most days I skip highlighter. And blending is a must. Thank you so much!❤🩷💋💕

Great tipps! I am 46 and do no longer use "heavy glitter" which you find in Pat MacGrath palettes which were my favourites. Nowadays I prefer Lisa Eldridge or Viseart formulas. I use and always used little amounts of concealer to even out my complexion, never owned foundation (I have pretty good skin). I love to clean up with a tiny dot of concealer in the corners of the lower lips, the effect on my face is surprising. I love hourglass powders to brighten my skin. So basically concealer to even out and strategic placement of invisible powders.

Hi, it is a great gift to be alive to age. I’ve outlived my mom by 8 years, so I don’t take it for granted. The concealer thing after menopause is confusing, it just looks crap. I use my foundation up close to my under eye, barely set it, it looks young and fresh. I take really good care of my skin. I do have to say that after menopause you don’t have that collagen.i see a lot of late 40 somethings just putting on the concealer and I get it, worked for me. (I know the younger kids can do it no problem). I’m only a young 53. Happy birthday to me, I just am that age a month ago. I am an artist in the movie biz, but I am a set painter.i know how to paint. No one told me that after a certain age, you really have to get creative. Cheers!

Yep, everything you mentioned & demonstrated has been true for me as well. I kind of figured it out thru trial & error. I stopped using foundation in my late 30s since it made my skin look worse. By my 40s I was barely wearing anything & still shopping at the drugstore. I rediscovered makeup in my early 50s & made use of tutorials & recommendations here on YT & started trying higher end makeup. I had always been a very matte-brown eyeshadow & tinted lipgloss person so I had fun experimenting with color & texture since the formulas had improved so much over what was available when I was first wearing makeup as a teen. Now, I'm back to my more natural/neutral look even if I am technically using more products. Lots of light layers & blending & giving myself the time to do it properly :) When your skin goes from oily/acne to dry/dehydrated seemingly overnight there is an adjustment period. 😮

Love the video, I believe the less is more approach is very helpful as I embrace using makeup more often again in my 60s. That said, I'm having fun branching out with new eyeshadow colors and shimmers. The dry eye issue is recent to me, I also avoid tight lining and am scrupulous when removing makeup and use very gentle makeup removers and creams around my eye areas. My eye doctor recommended putting a warm washcloth on my eyes while in the shower to help keep the ducts/glands clear.

I’m 36 now and I have already made a lot of changes to my routine. Most days I skip eyeliner all together , as I find I actually look better and more awake without it. I rarely do Winged liner anymore (especially liquids), Due to my hooded eyelids becoming droopier with age. If I do want a baby wing, I use powder eyeshadow with your tiny winged eyeliner brush for a soft look. I also wear light coverage foundations , medium for a night out, and rely on concealer for areas that need more help. I also enjoy lighter more casual eye looks as I find I just look better with less heavy eye makeup these days. I also really have been embracing cream and liquid bronzers/blushes etc.

Turning 43 soon. This video was so relatable. You just cannot do your makeup the same way you did in your 20s or even 30s. I have found that not wearing any foundation is the key for me. That way it isn’t settling into all those new fine lines and wrinkles and my skin looks much fresher and younger. Helps my skin overall too! And I agree, cream blush and bronzer lays much better on mature skin. And forget any type glitter on the eyes!

So helpful, thank you! A couple requests ☺️ Please do a video of: - at home grwm with your fave makeup - a side by side using one eyeshadow palette but showing how using different brushes can make a more subtle look vs a more dramatic look - at one point is it better to just not use concealer when our under eyes are really wrinkled?

Oh my word!! Less is more totally!! The funny thing is, I got a sample of the NARS light reflecting foundation recently. I wore it Yesterday and I wasn’t that impressed. Today I finished off the sample and there wasn’t as much product and what a difference! It wore soooooo beautifully ❤

Thank you so much! I love learning from you. I love that you talked about the brushes you were using and all of the tips and tricks. I get ready with you in the morning. I try to keep my brushes in front of me with the number up so I can grab them quickly and follow along with you. Have a blessed day.

I have only worn make-up to go out for special events, I used a cleanser to take it off, I used a moisturiser every day... never thought about it much..then 58-60, I was going through menopause, then at 61, suddenly I went from oily to dry..overnight!! Now I'm very conscious of cleansers, eyecreams, moisturisers, serums, antiwrinkle agents, etc, and have bought lighter make-up formulas, add a dob of moisturiser to the foundation to make it even lighter, it does not show wrinkles like heavy foundations do...and I use it much more often, as I've noticed how much more pale I look and need more colour now!!😊 so i agree, we have to change our make-up and skin care as we age...

I love your tutorials Lisa, always so easy to understand with great advice along the way. I just started my skincare journey last year and really enjoying it and discovering what my skin likes or doesn’t. When I was a teenager in the 80’s I loved blue eyeliner in the water line and it really made my eyes pop but I don’t use any eyeliner in the water line at all now…just a little shadow along the lash line. I’m actually more adventurous with blush colours now and the placement has changed. I try to learn as much as I can about my maturing features and try to make the most of things and watching KZbin videos like yours Lisa really teaches me so much ❤

Thank you for all the teaching you do in these videos, it’s so helpful to have an explanation of why and how you do what you do! I’m starting to change how I use makeup in my late 40’s and discovering new products that are better for my skin, like cream blush! Now adding more things to my cart to try…

I am a retired beauty therapist here in the UK. Thankyou for great tips. I like Laura Geller products but that's the only brand that tends to fade on me. I adore the Givenchy powders and gurlein meteorites
