I'm gonna be honest, I just bought the 180bhp Competizione and took delivery a couple days ago. After watching this video I haven't got a clue what you're on about tbh, none of the non-subjective things you mention seem to exist on my car. Not sure if they received an update or something but yeah.

Freakymonify depending on how you spec'd yours it will probably have bucket seats which gives you a better seating position and wont have the gap or exposed metal, larger (better) info screen. The monza exhaust which again is better. I drove a competizione last weekend at sliverstone and it was worlds apart from my 145bhp 595 because the competizione is the highest spec apart fron the 695 biposto. But congrats on the new car hope you are enjoying - they are brillant (and i am extremely jealous!)

Northernmost Mustard I suspect that might he the case, yeah. I went for the leather Tourismo seats, which don't have the exposed metal. Perhaps they received quite a bit of feedback about it and sort that shit out. I quite like the seating position but I feel that's largely personal preference and body type. Overall you're likely right, updated model and the top spec has quite a bit of influence on overall quality and things available. Thanks man, I love it to bits. Genuinely the best car I've ever owned.

I'm still wondering why you bought this car, i mean, the interior is bad for you, the seats are bad for you, the lights, etc... When you're buying an Abarth, you're paying for the boosted version of the Fiat 500, not for a luxury interior, or that kind of stuff.. I'm agree with you tho that it could be better in some things, the boost gauge is in lower position on LHD, they obvioulsy could change the 500 logo on the interior too... The window bottons are there basically for two reasons (in my opinion): 1. Because is cheaper to have both in the middle (driver can control both sides) and 2. It would be hard to fit those bottons at the door; I drive a Fiat 500, and I really prefer to have those bottons at the middle rather than at the door...

The 500 is on the dash of every Fiat-related model connecting each model back to the original Cinquecento. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

The #1 complaint always seems to be the seat height. I have the Tourismo and for me it’s not an issue. I prefer to have a better overall view. What they should have done is have the steering wheel extend in and out rather than only up and down. I do agree about having “500” inside car and also on the tailgate chrome. Should be 595 instead. They went out their way to put Abarth badges all over the car instead of Fiat so why not use 595?

I have owned my 2014 Abarth 500 for two months now and its brilliant. Love the driving position and interior, the performance. I must have got a good one no rattles, everything works as it should. Hope you get some issues sorted.

Interesting points. "build quality" nobody ever bought a small Italian car for its build quality! It is a Fiat 500 though, the "595" is a homage to the tuned 500's form the 1960's that Abarth made. Fiat have spun Abarth off as a brand for marketing. Those headlights do look pants though.

The good points over ride the irritations of the Abarth range. Take into consideration the model in 2021 is over a decade old with technology older still. I agree the badging could have and should have changed to read ‘Abarth’ which would have strengthened the brand. Otherwise accepting for the points you make the little car is a run away success.

I traded my BMW 1 series 2 litre sport for Abarh comp ...Yes in comparison tha Abarh is crude but the BMW was a little dull n the reliability wasn't great ....But Abarh is soo much fun to drive

Where does everyone come up with the "cheap car" price comments? For a little car with so many drawbacks, it's alot of money for what amounts to a cool exhaust note! Everytime I read a review of this and similar cars, I keep hearing "cheap car" as in not expensive! It's a TOY! It's expensive , given that it is a TOY !

LOL, you complain about why they put buttons on a different place, unlike most other cars. That's so funny. That's what's special about this little Italian beauty. It's different from most other boring cars out there. Exactly why I would buy it. I don't own one but you complain about the weirdest things. Yes it is a 595, but it's based on the 500 body, can't get away from that. Like it makes you less of a man that it says 500 on the dash or the display? I also don't get why everybody I've seen doing a review about the Abarth, complains about sitting too high in the car. That's the way it rides. Test it, and if you don't like it, don't buy it.

Its funny because the north american version doesnt have any of these issues. Except ride height. However, the interior is leather, the boost gauge is right next to the speedometer, the seatbelt has a shroud, I guess you should get an NA one.

I just got a late 2018 same model but in red, I think if you go into buying one knowing there is a few gripes ultimatey the pros to the car will outweight the cons massively, For a 4 year old car it still looks in new condition, and i think the only thing that bugs me is the seat hight, No deal breaker by any means but if it could go down 1 inch more it would be perfect, yeah the standard halogens are piss poor, i upgraded mine to nightbreakers, doubles the output, i also changed out the Daytime driving lights to Led, they looked a sad orange colour haha, but overall this car is an absolute hoot, One of the reasons i didnt go for the higher up models is the suspension is way to firm for a daily driver, and to be honest the 20-40 bhp increase is not that much difrence, but would suit someone who likes to go trackdays on the weekends, as there pretty much set up to go 🙃

Fully agree! I love and miss this car in equal measure! But I'm now driving a BMW M140i. When is obviously way quicker but way less fun to drive!

The point is that it's a factory modded car. The 500 on the dash is intentional. The boost gauge is meant to look added on.

Ive had two of these and the 500 badge on the dash was my biggest hate, because its a 595, not a Fiat 500. I must admit, I was lucky in that the last one I had, a 65 plate, the quality was very good, no rattles apart from the steering wheel which I resolved by moving its position, must have been wiring loom inside it or something. Sold it by mistake really, always regret that. I loved it.

Hi Another thing i would have liked was with the electric mirrors on the base 595 is auto fold which is very handy if you have a narrow garage the electric window switch you are right would be good on the door.Back to the mirrors there is no option for folding even if you want to pay?

I'm due to take delivery of a 595 Turismo this week. Waiting on a brake disc to be replaced as I discovered a squeak on the test drive (due to be imported from Italy). I grew up with a desire for an Abarth so I dont care about the review, just waiting to get this car in my life. Forza Abarth!!

If you look on LHD Abarth, the boost gauge is down on the dash board. Still to your left, but lower down, next to the air vent. No idea why they don't do similar for RHD.

No heated seat option... no easy way to adjust seats without opening door to get to the adjuster... no height adjustments with Sebelt seats...

The fundamental difference between these vehicles is that the Abarth is built to be a more powerful and sportier version of the basic FIAT® 500. The styling of the Abarth is similar to the FIAT® 500 but includes an upgraded engine, more options for interior features and a different color scheme for the car. Abarth is a tuner like AC Schnitzer for BMW but the difference is unlike AC they are owned by Fiat much like the M sport or tech of BMW. PS love these cars

Great video. I disagree though that you keep saying it's a cheap car. It isn't. However which way you look at it, it's still a Fiat 500 and that's a bloody lot to pay for a nice sounding exhaust. I have a Fiat 500 Twinair and mine is mint inside. Quality is amazing. Of they are going to provide a cheap interior just to provide you with a nice sound I will stick with the twinair. How about a video on the good points (unless you already have made one?)

I was thinking of trading in my Suzuki Swift Sport for a 595 as the build quality is crap,cheap plastics,poor paint etc,but I think after seeing your reveiw I shall not bother.Fords and Hondas are far better.

I just wanted to point out some stuff that annoy me personally.(some I must admit people below aren't happy about) I think what makes this car good is how much it will make you smile when driving - I would at least give one a test drive! Or maybe go for a higher spec which eliminates some of the issues!

All depends how much you want to pay but for fun factor, the sound and overall experience the Abarth is a superb car for the money.

I have just bought mine a month ago, they changed the place of the turbo boost, it's next to the steering wheel now and not irritating in anyway. the most annoying thing about it is the cheap quality, lot's of plastic and my windows make a sound going on the. motorway what always annoys me! but still is a fun car!

I'm looking to buy an abarth. Wonder if I could ask your opinion. I've seen an abarth 595 turismo for sale. The year is 2017. I love it but only thing I'm not keen on is the colour. It's white. But I've just seen the new 2019 one and they do a brilliant green colour. My dilemma is do I go for a new one, which would just be a standard one, and have it the colour I love or go for the turismo?

Ofcourse its all personal preference. The 2017 model shouldn't be too different to mine although the turismo is a lot better spec. Although, the 2019 model does look really good! Especially the adrenaline green!!! The paint is quite cheap on the abarth as my blue would scratch really easy so if I was buying again I'd use some products to protect it. That is one advantage of a white car is they don't usually show scratches as much. Either way enjoy which ever you get, I miss the abarth like mad such a fun car.

Well the stock seats are so bad and the adjustment handle at the side is so poor that I took the sabelt seats... I was shocked at the test drive. Endet up with picking some other options and I have to be honest, the car is pretty expensive when choosing some extras. But the sabelt seats are so much better... Can only advise to chose them.

I own a 500C, came full leather with heated seats and and the turbo gauge came right were you said it should be.... I do think they spent every penny on performance, cause otherwise the car would have been 10,000 more expensive... I love mine...

With you on the headlamps. And it's not just Fiat. A lot of makes are doing this. They're putting halogen bulbs in projector units and often the projector units are designed for HID bulbs, with the little flap inside to block some light for dipped and that flips up to allow full beam. Had a Alfa gullietta with absolute candles for headlamps and full beams was like shining a pocket torch out the window. Got a ZOE on the drive at the moment and that's the same. Same bulb for dipped and full beam...just lifting a flap to let all the light out. Gash. Glad I bought a second hand Competizione with HIDs.

I just really don't like the yellow hue and they aren't particular bright either! I feel that a 2nd competizione may have been a better option although I love the new front grill of the new series! My Competizione cost 30.500€ and I have the same plastics. So the Abarth ist not really cheap... The buildt quality is cheap. But it's fun and no gti or other sporty hatchback wakes up so many emotions like the Abarth. Would I buy one again? Probably not... There are more cars for 30.000€ with better quality and... heated seats (why fiat... Why!!?) . Driving it for 2 months now and 3500km. Think I'm gonna sell it in a year or 1 1/2 and get a Golf GTI with DSG or the new Polo gti. Do I regret it? No! Driving the Abarth is fun, but I miss some of that cool stuff that new cars get... Starting with some coming and leaving home light... I love my 595 Competizione... But the prices are just too high. I test drove one and had to buy it, it makes you addictiv 😁

I completely agree! If I had the money I would got a Competizione (love the monza exhaust). I don't regret buying mine either and most of the things I hate are small things! SniKKaz ...I bought last year the brand new Facelift Competitione in Germany ! It cost me 24.750 € It's with Sabelt carbon seats (unfortunately too high position..but I made it 2.5 cm lower position) Panorama roof..... To the subject 500 ,...I let disappear it!! My dashboard....Turbo Gauge...Climate control...and even the Infotainment is covered full with Carbon!!! It was all made by the company : Koshi Group!!! So almost all disturbing stuffs can be modified!!! I hate that I don't have Cruise control,...and that the steering-wheel can't be moved forward and backward!!!!

Im here because im bored you obviously haven’t sat in one for a while then. Overall the interiors are good, but they put way too much hard scratchy plastic in them. My wife was looking for a new car a couple of years ago and we drove the new Tiguan, awful interior, lots of nasty plastic where there shouldn’t be any, contrast that to a Nissan qashqui which is much cheaper which had a much nicer interior, soft louch materials and leather where the VW had hard plastic. I sat in a Golf GTi at the same time and that was just as bad.

I had a 127 special in the 80s great lively engine and gearbox but same as usual, rubbish body work if you spat at it next thing you know it would rust terribly, never bought another fiat after that you can't go wrong with German or Japanese cars, don't touch a kia either interior build quality is worse than this fiat.
