Hey chris have you ever had a snake hit the rat off tongs but fall on the side of the tub as it constricts only to then let go of the rat? One of my females did that and has been refusing for a few weeks now. Appreciate it.

I paid $2500 for a desert hatchling male when they came out, only to find out about a year later about the females. I have a pic I took years back at Daytona of a snake Pro Exotics was selling. It was labeled Pastel Desert pos het Pied FEMALE - $8,500. That's one EXPENSIVE PET.

Hey Chris and other Ball Python experts, I was wondering, in your opinion when starting to get your basic snakes for example the Lesser Ball, Pastel Ball, Pinstripe Ball, Bamboo Ball, Coral Glow Ball, Normal Ball...would you get those all in Female or Male. Do you think certain ones need to be specifically F and M and which ones would you choose if so? Sorry for the long drawn out question. lol Really enjoying the videos..

Havnt heard of people saying a breeder male is 500g yes they can breed at that size, 800g is normally the healthy weight to start breeding a male.

It's totally doable at 400g if you are prepared to stop if they stop eating. Unlike females, you can just stop breeding them and they won't have to burn a ton of calories if they won't eat. Females, once you start, it's out of your control after that and a lot more risky to push the limits.

Its really all about projects. New genes are popping up all the time and so many more still proving out. Start with what you like. Try your luck on some not so popular morphs. I have 7 bps rn. All different morphs. With 4 more otw. Including a normal pair to prove out hets and certain genes.

So I put the female I have in with the male and he got to breathing really heavy and being stand should I just leave him

Try putting the male in with the female in the females tank. And if they fight at all I would take them both to get them sexed. Usually only 2 males will fight.
