Over Inflating Your Tires For Better Fuel Economy - 3rd Gen 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD-OffRoad

Ever wanted or heard people talk about over inflation in their tires for better MPG/fuel economy? Well lets see what it is all about. Here I put in over 50 PSI in my tacomas tires and did a nice loop lap to the gas station to see if my fuel mileage improved at all! Let me know what your thoughts are on this!

Thank you for doing this. I have the same truck and typically get around 23 miles to the gallon 28 on the Thruway, I like to run mine around 32 cold and they do warm up and get harder.

Over inflation highly reduces stopping power and high speed turning control. Saving fuel this way can be deadly

Exactly why I highly advise against it. Yet some think max psi for a tire is what it needs to run lol. Some people scare me.

Mine tacks 1.5 rpm at 70. I do t think your hitting 6th

I dont ever hit 6th gear with taco unless its downhill or very very lucky. You cant really when you throw on 10ply tires. Nevertheless its not much difference in terms of MPG. When i ran street tires i saw 6th but it was mostly just reduction on drone noise but 6th is so sensitive it takes a little tip just to change gears. Not much leg room you could say. Im always 5th and do just fine. Plus my speedo is out as well so 65mph on cluster is 70mph

You should be onverinflating by 20% of spec but never go over max tire pressure shown on tire.

You never will need to go to 80 psi though lol

The psi isnt on the tire, its inside the door.

Yes for sure because of how heavy they weigh compare to other tires
