This kind of video's i love the most, these in wich you analyse a circuit or circuitidea for a solution for such often appearing problems in our own circuits

Once again you read my mind! I need such a solution for my Tesla coil to minimize damage to parts when I push it a little too far. Thanks for the reference material! I realized the difficulty in hard switching a high voltage DC bus When I was attempting to use an automotive contactor at 200VDC. Into a resistive or inductive load, an arc is established over the contacts and persists until I remove power, and melts the contacts if not extinguished asap. That capacitance following the switch helps with soft switching, as it prevents series inductance causing a persistent arc to be established, but too much of it also means hard at switching on and might nesesitate a precharge circuit So a MOSFET or IGBT makes sense for this application of a hyperfast efuse, rated for the voltage and current. And looking around, turns out there are several expensive ICs that do exactly this, but it also seems like something easy enough to implement with descrete components, so this video will come in handy for my PCB design. Thanks!

Cool circuit! I like designing this kind of low-level "power interface control logic". It lacks some of the glamour of high speed control systems but I find the opportunity for creativity in clean, intuitive design is sometimes overlooked.

Hi Proffesor, thanks for this video, in minute 12:49 you have added a diode D1, in normal operation when we have voltage on the output of this comparator this diode will not make any problems with operation of this circuit?. This diode will delete locking of our circuit. once again thanks for analog way in digital world.

I believe the goal is to have memory only while input is high, and only latch on rising edge. So yes when input goes low the memory is reset.

When Vc is high the diode is reversed biased. When Vc is low it forces a zero output no matter what.

Thank you! It seams that circuit will work w/o D2. The latch will work w/o D2 am I right? The purpose of diode D2 is to have higher input impedance when comparator out is off?
@sambenyaakov
@sambenyaakov 3 жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking you are correct. I chose to put the diode so not to be dependent of the output impedance of the comparator when the pulse is delivered.
