Not my usual content but I got inspired while trying to learn the choreo. Anyways, if you’re trying to learn this dance, don’t worry if you feel you’re getting details “wrong” since they literally all do it very differently while still hitting the major counts at the same time. You got this! Just do your thing~ Please no comments that directly disrespect the members, other groups, or each other’s opinions. This is seriously just for fun so we can enjoy together. It's ok if you disagree but please be respectful There’s some details I realize I may have misdescribed or missed sadly but I think you still get the idea. Again, this "over-analysis" is for the goal of appreciating the choices and considering different ways it can be done, not judging or picking them apart in a critical way. I genuinely do love how each member does their thing overall

Thank you, this is such a cool video. I know nothing about dancing but ATEEZ just are great storytellers and have unforgettable presence as performers. To add to Yunho's analysis, i think he adds a very reliable foundation to the story, he remains consistent and maintains the same energy of tension and precision. And I like how you pointed out how he draws his movements inwards, a detail I took for granted. I personally like the way Seonghwa interpreted this song and his persona really does seem regal amidst the dark imagery.

@@geonah05 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ7XXpSeod15pqM this analysis about Yuta applies so well to Yunho as well, knowing how athletic he is as well. Plus that added challenge of managing his longer limbs to match his members adds a certain constraint. Seeing how Yunho dances on his own vs when he is in group you can see how conscious he is about everyone else, in that sense he reminds me of JHope.

For me, Seonghwa and Yeosang are the dancing stars of Halazia. Not only are their expressions beautiful/slightly ferocious, but the way they channeled the song's themes are uniquely wonderful to me! You have the poised sort of elegance from Seonghwa, who honestly gave me cult leader vibes in the MV, especially with his more graceful dancing. Watching him dance is like seeing a martry with the weight of the world on their shoulders, though they're bearing it willingly. But Yeosang...Yeosang! He brought so much unbridled rage to his style this comeback, always looking like he's two steps away from letting loose some terrible force upon the world. The quick, borderline recklessness of the cross move at 8:32 is a perfect example of this. Or at 8:44, especially when paired with those gritted teeth and fierce eyes. It's SO different from his normal look, and it gives me lots of feelings!

i've got to remark on the way jongho shifts the weight during the halahalahalazia part bc!! he does that in fireworks!!! and in a lot of their other choreos too! im glad you mentioned it bc a lot of people don't notice how light he is on his feet while remaining so stable and grounded and that's one of my favourite things about the way he dances :D but also seonghwa really brought it in with the 'hopelessly stuck in the abyss waiting for our saviour's vibe he had this comeback bc like! hell yeah!! this is exactly what the chorus calls for!!! tysm for making this video i had a lot of fun watching it

I really loved this video!! It's very interesting hearing insight from someone who has technical knowledge on dancing. This is exactly why I love ATEEZ. Each member has their own distinct and unique way of doing certain moves, but those differences don't take away from the performance at all! As a group they're still so cohesive, in sync, and clean! Those differences enhance their performances, and it's also one of the reasons why I love watching fancams. Its so fun to pick up on the little quirks that each member has. ATEEZ are truly outstanding performers 👏🏽 Awesome video, if you've considered doing this for other songs I'd definitely tune in

Especially for Ateez where each member really does bring something unique to the group. 8 really does make 1 team. I cant think of a single one of them that doesnt enhance to the group's performance or just to the group in general. I never noticed how they do it slightly different from one another so this was super cool! Plus I love behind the scenes and dissecting things like this, getting a good closer look. I love how detailed this breakdown is and how you explain the way their stylistic choices also reflect the meaning in the song. Edit to add: I hadn't finished this video when I wrote the above. I've finished :now so am adding thoughts. The standouts for me were San, love that desperate vibe; Mingi's masculine energy (OMG those body rolls); and good lord, Yeosang dancing like he's possessed in the very best way. My ult favorite moment is Yeosang's upper body energy when he takes center position for "hala hala hala halazia." Absolute 🔥 Honorable mentions to Wooyoung and Seonghwa, but everyone was amazing, honestly.

I love your analysis! You pointed out a lot of things that I never noticed, so I'll try to pay more attention to their individual dances next time ahaha. It's amazing how each member interprets the song and choreo in their own way yet they all fit together into one perfect performance. Them dancing in a different style compared to what they usually do was so freaking cool (e.g. Seonghwa being more precise & Yeosang going wild) and I'm really excited to see what else they're gonna try in the future. All their dances were captivating especially Yeosang, he caught my attention the most. His movements were so intense the energy punched me in the gut through the screen and I loved it. Even if he took on this demented persona I found that desperation beautiful. I can't really put my feelings into words, its just that his dance was so freaking sick it would always leave me breathless at the end of the performance. (and with that birthmark??? holyyyyyyyyyy) Anyways, I'm a relatively new atiny who's been stanning them for slightly over a month, and I really appreciate your channel! For the leg shaking move, I like that Jongho does one leg and then the other, as opposed to moving both at once. I think that adds a nice progression as we can see the energy move through different parts of his body, like you said, and it also sets him apart from the other members. He could do absolutely nothing on stage other than blow us away with his vocals and we'd be fine with it, but he stills chooses to slay the choreo too. King shit only. And I'm a Seonghwa bias so bear with me for a minute - I love how he clicks his heels in the shaking move, it looks so clean and satisfying (there's no place like home bb), and the desperation in his expression as he looks toward his outstretched hand but then looks down, which is different from the other members who kept their gaze outwards - that's an interesting and subtle choice. He's very precise but also soft and delicate, very emotional. His is a soft precision, while San's is a sharp precision - and I mean with energy, not with the degree of precision, if that makes sense; it's not that Seonghwa's moves are messy, but that his moves just have a softness, while San's are so intense. Not necessarily trying to compare them, except that San is my bias wrecker so I guess I've just noticed how both focus on clean moves but in different ways. Seonghwa just has this natural...vulnerability. For this choreo in particular, he expresses his emotions and movements openly without adding any kind of bravado (as in adding in an intense flourish or expression just to look "manly"), but still looks so masculine and sexy I'M SORRY YOU HAVE TO STOP IT SIR I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE I really love Yunho's restraint, his pulling in instead of pushing out, I can totally feel the tension in it and it's so...attractive? lol like it really pulls me in and adds more feeling in a way. Like actually fighting with the emotions rather than just throwing them outwards. I don't know if he always does this but I like it. He's also super precise but very controlled, and that obviously takes a lot of...control. lmao. I mean it makes sense that he's the lead dancer (main dancer? I never know the difference lol) - you can see his utter control over every single move he makes. It's not flashy so it doesn't grab people's attention like San or Wooyoung or Yeosang but when you do look at it, you're like...wow, that's masterful. The tension makes it so good, the push and pull between fast and slow, how quick and sharp the movements look when their lead-up has so much tension...maybe it also has to do with height like you mentioned, maybe he feels he has to control his limbs more because they're so long? Whereas the others are just throwing their shit all over the place, lmao. Not in a bad way obviously, but they're just letting the music move them, while Yunho almost looks like HE'S controlling the music. In the arm pull move there's so much tension, it looks like he's actually pulling something rather than just going through the motions. And the 'hail Mary' part in particular shows his tension and restraint, the pent up energy, like he COULD fuck your shit up but he's holding back. I think maybe if he allowed more extension and let go of the control in the right moments it would be magnificent; it would add beautiful punctuation and would contrast wonderfully with his controlled movements. I'm sorry...am I falling for Yunho? lol Hongjoong's dancing is not usually paid attention to but he's actually really good. He has a lot of energy and spunk and lightness to his moves. I love his little one leg kick up after the outstretched hand part, that has so much personality and fun energy. Wooyoung can't help but be sexy huh, lol. And in this choreo at least it's not as obvious, it's more restrained because obviously that's the vibe of the song and all, but the way he tilts his head before the hala-hala-hala part is so subtle but also so like...precise? There's extra spice in that move, like he moves his head to the opposite side before the main tilt, it just emphasizes the movement, his neck is like a fuckin snake lol. And the way he angles his shoulders and elbows, in combination with the way he looks at the audience/camera... you better stop that boi. lol It's the way he tilts his head! It's subtle but so effective. Mingi also can't help but be sexy. Those little body rolls, when no one told him to? When no one asked? Not that I'm complaining lmao. The music was just telling him to do that. I love it. And when he looks down towards the end of the body roll, SIR STOP IT. I also like that when there's a head turn, he FULLY turns his head. Gimme those angles boiii I absolutely love Yeosang's passion and intensity this comeback. He's obviously caught all of our attention because he's just going full out, not holding anything back anymore. I love that it seems like he's more confident now and therefore is allowing more expression and abandon. It's a bit crazy lol, but that's why we love it. I think Yunho could lend him a little bit of his control, just for certain moments though, he doesn't need to control all of that passionate energy. He grabbed us by the balls and didn't let go this time. Okay boy, we see you! I can't say more than I've already said about San because this comment will be way longer than it already is. We know. We been knew. He's perfect.

Thank you for sharing your opinion with details like this! I agree about Jongho's legs. I personally do one leg at a time when doing the move instinctively. I def get what you mean about Seonghwa's vibe being softer than San's/ The intensity in which he "hits" the moves is softer but not lighter the way WY and JH's are, rather they linger a bit more I feel while San is more likely to hit and stop. For main and lead dancer I think main is considered above lead. Like you're THE dancer while everyone in the dance line is a lead dancer. But ATEEZ don't have official positions just general "singer" "dancer" rapper". So fans have just assumed Yunho as main bc members say it sometimes (they say it for a few members though) and bc Yunho seems to take the lead in teaching choreo too the way a main dancer generally does as well as being a strong member of the dance line in general. I do agree that Yunho also seems to have control vs being controlled but, unlike WY and JH is struggling to pull it in a lot more which leads to that tension.

Oh god this is exactly what I do in my head when I watch fancams over and over, except I don't have the insight to put it so clearly into words lol. I didn't quite understand what I was seeing with Wooyoung until you said that he is in control, I just I kept thinking that he was precise and graceful, like the choreo might as well have been ballet. I've also been comparing him to San (I usually do I guess, maybe because they're dancing styles are so different), and I felt like Wooyoung was always moving in an intentional, almost "boss" kind of way, whereas San seems to be reacting to his emotions or whatever is happening to him. He often looks like he's being pushed or pulled into his moves, which is why he's so mesmerizing I think (aka the "demon" takes over lol). I'm always in awe of Yunho's dancing. He's so graceful (love how you pointed out the final hand extension in the upward/left reaching move) but also looks like his movements are the absolutely only way to do them. Not in an "I'm right and everyone else is doing it wrong" kind of way but more like he personally couldn't have moved in any way other than the way he is currently moving. It's very captivating, like watching a debate or argument and finding yourself agreeing with the person just because they speak with such conviction. I am in love with your description of Yeosang's persona--gothic and unhinged or however you said it lol--because that is it precisely. I've been seeing this comeback through a religious--mainly Christian--lens (which I think is intentional, the whole song sounds like a prayer and Seonghwa looks like he's on a crucifix at the opening of the mv and stages, but obviously others might interpret it differently), and while many of them look like they are pleading or praying, Yeosang looks like he is possessed by the spirit of something. It's the difference between hoping for an external spiritual intervention and having the spirit actually overcome you. And yes it's wild and so different from everyone else but to me it seems like Yeosang is the representative of that aspect of the story, like Seonghwa is the representative of that sort of authoritative heirophant persona. And Jongho--ok look, he's my bias, and by a pretty wide margin ngl. And he has a special place in all of Ateez's choreo because of his vocal lines. But he always seems so powerful, vocally and physically, and I can't imagine him ever dancing in a way that looks uncontrolled (though I would love to see it!). There are some fancam shots where you can see him singing while Yeosang is dancing just behind him--you know just going nuts with his style like you said, and my mind comes up with this scenario where the power of Jongho's voice is actually making Yeosang move, like possessing him or something. There's such a contrast between Yeosang's wildness and Jongho's calm, almost unbothered way of dancing and his general presence. I'm not saying Jongho is actually portraying whatever saving force they're all pleading for, but maybe he is the only one who knows for sure that it is coming, or he has already seen a future where it has come. Also, his repeated line about a voice overturning the world kinda sounds like he has some kind of power to make a change. I think it's interesting how Hongjoong and Mingi seem a little more subdued in this choreo. Not that their dancing is any less compelling--possibly more so because of their choices--but they do come across to me as the more passive and desperate players, like they are also praying but don't have a lot of hope for the outcome. Hongjoong has his moments, as you pointed out, of heightened action and a more motivated attitude, but those are more in between a general sense of pain and holding onto the last threads of hope. I guess I see each member as part of a cast of characters telling the whole story, and I absolutely love how they make choices that are open to all kinds of interpretations but that are held together by the common theme of the song. Oh god I was just going to say thanks for the video, but I do love content that makes me think, and you definitely did that! Thanks for making this video 😊

Totally agree, with you both. For the visual breakdown from atozed and the description CarlaIrene gave. You both gave words to what i feel whe i see them perform. They tell stories with their songs that are interpreted by their dancing. Each one slightly different depending on the character they are playing for that song. They should be fantastic on stage musicals etc later once they are older and their schedules allow for individual activities. I often wonder why yunho dances so well with graceful joy and compellingly when he is on his own like those free styling challenges but seems to tone it down or hyper aware and restrain himself when he’s in group. Seeing this makes me think he is compensating for his height extra long limbs etc to match the formations. Like you said, not because he’s right (although Ateez does say he’s the only one who does it precisely as taught😅) but because it is the only way he could do those moves with his body when in formation. Thank you for giving him his due you both, although i love all of them, i have a soft spot for yunho because he is so underrated at his own specialty. Being in Ateez with the flavour and darker charisma often meant his style gets overloooked. The demon line dances in way that awes us because they show how strongly they go at it and they go hard! But Yunho has the grace and fluidity to make it seem effortless and smooth, deceptively making it look he isnt going as hard as the others. The number of time his bracelets, head mics have gone flying shows me the power he puts into those moves. And the constant criticism he gets on his facial expressions. Dude isnt going to be the extreme demonic type, doesnt mean he isnt good. Just look how well he conveys emotions in Imitation or how Mingi ad San detected his frustration via his micro expressions 😅. I find his expressions are subtle like those we see on screen acting not musical theatre acting. Hopefully as he gains experience and confidence he will be able to exude his internal emoting to suit the platform of performance without fear and reservation.

@CarlaIrene Жыл бұрын
@@hiddlespearean I love this Yunho appreciation! I agree with everything you said as well. I absolutely loved him in Imitation, and I think it was partlicularly because of his subtlety, which is a precious quality in any kind of performer. Watching him dance, I also usually get a strong sense of joy from him, and I think he's the kind of person who dances because it makes him happy, and maybe his skill and precision are a result of that emotional investment. More recently, it seems to me that he has intentionally been focusing on his facial expressions and conveying emotion, because I do see a huge improvement just in Guerilla and Halazia. But it's also true that he's doing it without losing that precision in his movement (your comment about him doing the moves as they're taught made me think of that show where he mimicked one of the others--Wooyoung I think--adding an extra hip movement to make a part in Deja Vu more sexy which was really cute!). Anyway, I also agree that Yunho's dancing gets overlooked sometimes because it's not as dramatic as demon line for example, especially since he stands out so much for his personality and goofiness (which are also things I love about him btw--he's my bias wrecker in the group and constantly gives Jongho a run for his money lol). Also I loved your phrase, the "darker charisma" of Ateez, that's a perfect description for them!

I think it does also depend the choreo. I think some of their styles may require them to dance more in sync but ATEEZ's message is usually about self expression and breaking out so that strict uniformity may not always work. I feel their choreographers tend to let them do with they want as long as they all hit their marks. I would say that, despite the relaxed nature he's giving it, that Jongho's performance doesn't read as shy to me in Halazia.
