My favorite part about buildzoid is he’s a cheapskate like most budget builders 👍 makes his recommendations mean something compared to other people saying “it’s a good deal buy it” he’s like it’s not a bad deal but you can get xyz for 10 bucks less and does the same

@@UnsettlingNarrations Yes, but that is the point. I don't want thermals to be the limiting factor. And also, if I choose to apply a much higher voltage than needed or even safe for my chip, then I can also run that cool if I wanted to. Even if it degrades my chip.

I have a 3800X (because when I got it, it was only $15 more than the 3700X) and CCX0 can hold 4.475 Ghz, while CCX1 can only hold 4.2. @1.275v So I think per CCX is definitely something to look into, even if it doesn't always have a huge benefit. You won't really know until you try.
@xMooD1
@xMooD1 3 жыл бұрын
And how? Find a stable all core oc (my R5-3600 can do 4.2 @ 1.2375v) and then bump up the clock per ccx until it crashes at the same voltage?
@LadyEmilyNyx
@LadyEmilyNyx 3 жыл бұрын
@@xMooD1 I started absurdly high on the voltage, found the max I could run stable all core, then raised the fastest CCX till that was also stable, then stepped back voltage till I lost stability. I started at 1.55 but you probably don't need to start higher than 1.35 or so. Both my 3800X, and my 3600 hit heat limits before they hit voltage instability, under custom loops. 7nm just can't disperse the heat fast enough to really show what it can do :( So unless you're running subambient, I don't think Ryzen ever needs above 1.35, and can usually be pulled down lower. YMMV, of course.

@@LadyEmilyNyx That's not a good way of doing it. Even 1.35v can be too much for Ryzen 3000 and lead to degradation. Buildzoid did a good video on determining FIT voltage. Stick to that and then raise CCX clocks until you get instability. Do NOT start with absurdly high voltage.

There's a bios update that updates AGESA so my 3700x boosts better on stock settings but kills all core OCing and/or undervolting on mine. Basically I have three issues - 1. it seems to be completely ignoring LLC settings 2. on a static oc of 4.375GHz I have to set a voltage of 1.35v+ to even get it to boot whereas before I could set 1.3v with no vdroop and run stable. 3. if you offset or override the voltage to lower it using pbo it locks all cores to the base clock (3.6GHz on my 3700x). Could you have a look at this BZ to see if the same is happening for you.

Yo, I had a quick question: I’m basically using the exact settings from your “how to get more performance out of Ryzen video” on a 3900XT/gigabyte Aorus Master. I think I also turned on Auto-OC and set LLC to “High” I’m using 2 of the RAM kits you tested (the teamforce xtreme cl14) at XMP. By coincidence, I happened to have bought those 2 weeks prior using the B-die finder app. And I set the Inf Fabric clock to 1800. Anyways. Looking at Coretemp, I’m getting amazing temperatures (as my cooling solution is ridiculous), but the voltages are occasionally spiking really high (as much as 1.5) in certain workloads. Is this measuring something uninportant? Because some of the voltage readings I’m getting using various monitors are so high that they’d have to be frying the chip if they meant anything. and what are the chances I’m overvolting the chip? The CPU never goes above 65, and when running R20 it seems to be automatically putting itself at 4400 allcore with very little deviation. Am I fine, or should I change something. Ideally, I don’t want any degradation. I didn’t manually set anything static except the infinity fabric clock, and those settings under PBO you had in that one video (it was like 300, 230/230, and 4x scalar iirc).

C-States still work if you set your OC within the AMD Overclocking menu (it even says so in the description). So Allcore OC will not have a negative impact on idle power consumption.

Only OC one CCX, leave the other one at lower clocks and try when it crashes. Then do it the other way around. And then set the both to the values you figured out and hope it doesn't crash 😀

i got a 3600 doing 4,4 ghz allcore @1,25v (bios) minus vdroop on a gigabyte x370 gaming 5 with 3600 MTs B-die - nothing optimized (living room PC), cinebench and gamestable, didnt test prime. at that point i feel like a static OC is the way to go, isnt it?

Great vid Bullzoid! I'm also looking to do the opposite as a means to decrease a PC power consumption. Could you to a video about undervolting and underclocking for a significant power consumption? I know that just decreasing voltage and core clock can achieve this but I'm wondering about which settings to use on VRM to further decrease the power consumption.

just use stock? why do you need to drop power use, the zen 2 are relay low power cpu's? im amazed looking at my cpu at stock it's using only about 8w per core when maxed out! thats super low. the only way to drop power use is under volt or set a power limit on the cpu in bios something like go in to the pbo bios settings and put a lower than stock power limit on the cpu. the only problem i have is heat disopation, wonder now if a BIG air cooler was a mistake over a AIO option

Been having some issues with my system for the past few weeks, it won't recognise 16 gig anymore the 7.95/16 used in windows, cpu id shows it see's both sticks, I cannot OC anything anymore, game boost will black screen, xmp 1-2 will black screen and not change a single setting, manual setting the voltage, black screen, it's driving me nuts. Tried reseating everything, cleaning everything, pin checks, different ram slots, different ram, bios update to the latest, memchecks fine, but the bios only recognises 8 gig of ram too instead of the usual 16, at this rate I'm thinking the new bios updates failed or deleted something making my gear work when it was last year. It's only a 2600 with a pair of 3200 ripjaws, but it's doing my head in, it worked last year, but just randomly stopped this year... at this rate I might just leave it at stock and deal with slowdowns while gaming and get a new system. Only thing that's actually changed is I fresh installed windows onto an SSD but I think it still worked for a time, so its also a simple button I don't remember being flicked to the off position.

Quick question for a noob. Why would u go for 70 plus Vdroop as u can just set the Vcore at 1.25-1-27 is enough for 4.3ghz with LLC mode 3~4(less Vdroop) is there anything that Ive miss? Im aware as cooling get better you could have lower Voltage. But yeah Waiting for Short answer.

I have a question: I want undervolt my 3600XT to low temps and consumption, and actually I’m using a negative offsett of 0.1000 and all the rest stock bios settings, Have I to use LLC for stability? Because before I tried -0.1250 but at the end of the run of R23 the pc restarted so i returned to 1000, thanks in advance if someone will help

Thank you for making this. I spent 8hrs this past Saturday trying to wrap my head around B550 gaming edge with 3600. This will give me some good ideas. Noctua NH-U12S kept my old 1600 @ 3.8ghz @ 1.35v nice and cool. This 3600 when folding@home or small FFT prime95 loves to run upto 86c. Was honestly trying to find how to tame this cpu. Getting new paste and going to try to reinstall cooler; maybe it's something as simple as that. Voltage offset kills performance to much. I know, I'm doing the opposite of this channel :P Trying to get this running cooler now during the winter so in the summer I won't cook myself alive.

Hi :) I've gotten myself X570 Tomahawk in preparation for the 4xxx series coming out. I couldn't put my 1700 in there so I bought a placeholder 3600 that will alter be moved to my B350-i machine. I still can't believe it. On just a 120mm cooler master master liquid AiO it's working at all core 4.5 GHz at 1.335 Volts under 90C. Stress tested for 3 hours. I'm starting to suspect they've put a 3600XT quality die inside some 3600 honestly This was really fun and I didn't even try to OC just one CCX to 4.55 or 4.6 yet :)

Very interesting as always AHOC well done... I'm asking here trying to learn to see if I understood this session. Wouldn't it be better to set both CCX's at the 4.2 or whatever you know they can do and then slowly raise one until the spread is like 100mhz. Then bump the slower by .5 see if it's stable and go back to bumping the higher clocked CCX until it's not stable. Back it down to where it was stable and start bumping the other one up until the systems no longer stable. Back it down a little to where it's stable and that should be where you end up as your daily after testing? I really am asking as I'm getting ready to upgrade to Ryzen and haven't done any over clocking on them yet. Thanks to anyone who first can understand what I said above... LOL ...and thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me...

In my exp adjusting the max clock speed for PBO on the 3600 affects non all core work loads (and it may not be stable) and the only power limit that matters in the socket limit my 3600 will hit 80C with a NH-D14 (in some prime95 loads [diff thread counts]), oddly it throttles at 80C, but i had the 'CPU temperature Warning Control' set to 85 (bios -> advanced -> hardware monitor), not sure if that would do it, PBO was off
