This would have been so helpful to know back in like 2011-2014. I was rocking a Athlon II X4 640 (My first quad core cpu) and was running it on a very similar motherboard from Gigabyte as well (GA-MA785GM-US2H). It had the built in Radeon HD 4200 gpu so it was a little bit more powerful in that department, it could play HL2 max graphics 900p (minus AA) but for anything more demanding I had to run in windowed mode 240p and enjoy a 12fps experience (I played at least 100hr of APB Reloaded this way back then). I also upgraded it to a whole whopping 8gb of DDR2 800mhz G.Skill memory and didn't even make use of it for half a year cause I didn't realize my version of Windows XP was 32bit :)

Though my mini HD 530 can't be overclocked in any way it's an impressive little system being able to run GTA 5 at playable framerates and almost being able to run Apex and Fortnite at playable framerates but what it shines in the most is emulation of older systems, its small size and low wattage draw. With AVX2 builds of PCSX2 it plays most titles just fine and runs texture packs of N64 Zelda games very well and can even run BOTW at 30 FPS

The gta 5 could still be playable if you reduce screen resolution to 640x480, disable shadows and reflections, and also reduced draw distance a bit, all possible in config file. Same thing with skyrim, that game can run at twice the framerate with disabling shadows (which do look bad on low settings anyway) and reducing the distant objects draw distance.

@PC_Modder Definitely! The gaming community often sees 1080p60fps as the absolute minimum for gaming. Yet, not too long ago we enjoyed gaming at 720p30fps. Not to mention an old fart like myself which was used to play 3D games running at ~200p at 8 to 15fps on the Amiga in the late 80's 🤣 it's all about perspective. San Andreas actually runs at 15fps max (except mods), and then each frame is presented twice in succession, in order to appear as "30" fps. I know San Andreas' age meets with the age of the parts, but it is a good idea to note this when looking at stutter, smoothness and performance in GTA SA. Because by default, San Andreas will not look smooth at "full speed", because it's more like 15fps with artificial stutter / frame duplication. This is something that I have always been curious about with the GeForce 6150SE, Nvidia's Integrated Graphics that came on the original Socket AM2 Motherboard that I used for the eMachines ET1331G-07w before turning it into the Ryzen 5950X/Radeon VII Sleeper PC that it is today; eMachines did not offer any known form of Overclocking on the BIOS for the Motherboard (Model ECS MCP61PM-GM (Revision 02.02, or "2.2")) that came with every ET1331G unit, so we will obviously need to look for Third Party solutions with this iGPU that are able to do this without handicaps, it truly was effective for both Gaming and Media Production in 2009 and the years to follow that those without a Graphics Card truly could get some decent use running this in their build so long as they didn't go above Standard Definition (0480p) or Progressive Mode (0576p).

If you look at the benchmarks between the 1090t and the Vishera 8350, there is literally not a lot between the two showing the Phenom punches well above its weight against a chip with two whole cores more, my old rig has the cooler melting 9590 which was a straight out 5ghz monster but the 1090t could easily keep up pretty much.

Back in 2013 I had a old am2+ motherboard with a phenom ii x2 8gb ddr2 800mhz with this internal gpu on board. I got it to 800mhz and was able to play samp and a few other games until I got a gpu (I got a gtx 660 afterwards) sold that motherboard few months ago. Lasted me 10year and still running. It was a gigabyte motherboard also.

Oh damn, you had an old family Celeron as well? I remember sticking an extra stick of DDR in there (that I _definitely_ hadn’t stolen from a school computer) to go from 512MB to a blazing 1GB. CS1.6 at an incredible 20-30FPS at 1280 x 1024 was somehow still just as entertaining as Halo 3/Reach and MW2 on my 360

G'day Random, that was really cool as I didn't know you could OC the Graphics on these Mobos either, I have the 78LMT-USB3 Rev: 5.0 (Black PCB) for my FX6300 & this seems like some fun to be had at some stage but for when I do want to use it Gaming I think I'll stick to the Graphics supplied by my Sapphire R9 270X Toxic 🥰

Overclocking the onboard Intel iGPU was possible. Not ever iGPU mind you but there is a tool called GMA Booster which can overclock the crap out of some of them for a substantial performance boost.

my mate used to game on an X200 chipset from 2007 on a P4. He could play Day of Defeat Source and CS:S but only if it was on orange maps, as the flat textures took a load off the GPU. Good times.

I remember having a laptop with GMA 945 (or 915 it was?) graphics, some dual core Acer, limited in BIOS to 2.5G DDR2. I found a small utility that increased the core clock and I ran it for few years. At one point, the benefit of overclocking was being able to play facebook games on browser and other flash games that otherwise were too slow. Another big advance was playing 720pHD videos on a chip that was only able to play 480p.

Yeah you can OC built-into the mobo GPUs but only if mobo itself is not a pure nothing, and if OC option is available - generally all these igpu/apu can OC very very high! Don't think I ever saw a 100% clock gain yet till today but they all can go to like 30-60% more on core clock which is insane

My dad's computer(it's an Intel with Core 2 Duo) couldn't do this. He still uses thanks to the help of a GT710. The on board is so awful, KZbin at higher than 480p gives gratuitous screen tearing. People might laugh at a GT 710, but £35 for a crap graphics card that will do everything required of it beats splashing on a new computer for someone who only uses spreadsheets and KZbin.

If the computer is that old you basically only have a graphics card to make sure the PC runs 1080p videos smoothly and/or has a display output xD
@fattomandeibu
@fattomandeibu 2 жыл бұрын
@@Quast The output is fine, his monitor is as old as the computer, it was just that Intel onboard may be worse than a PS1. Even at 480p you'd still get screen tearing, but it was still watchable, but 720p? Forget about it.

@@fattomandeibu I still remember what it was like switching from a graphics card that had no decoding for HD content to one which had, think was the NVidia 7000 generation. From a stop motion event to a full smooth video, alone for the orignal Crysis trailer it was worth it! xD

those are some really good gains. my m2n-mx se plus has a nforce 430 chipset with a nvidia 6150se igpu. i can overclock it from 425mhz to 555mhz but only with msi afterburner. this oc has next to no gains in performance even in older games. i think the most i've seen was a 2 fps gain but i don't remember the game or benchmark i used.

It made me remember my day without discrete GPU back in 2008-2010, my Radeon HD 3200 along with Athlon II X2 4800+ and 2 GB DDR2 RAM work very hard (probably a bit abused ) to play GRID, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, and the notorious GTA 4 all at glorious 800x600 on my 17" CRT with probably less than 30 FPS (but 800x600 at the time on CRT I remember didnt look that bad like on video above). The motherboard itself hold through 2 GPU upgrade (Radeon HD 6850 and GTX 660) and 1 CPU upgrade (Phenom II X4 840) before finally the memory slot gave up in 2016 (what an 8yrs old of great computing) and push me into Skylake ecosystem (AMD is bad during that year) . I still wish it hold one more year so I can upgrade to another AMD chipset with Ryzen and enjoy probably another decade of AMD longevity (Im already switch back into AMD in 2020 with Ryzen 5 2600 though and wish it hold at least as long as my last AMD system)
