It would be nice to manually undervolt it. A suggestion would be to lower clock speeds by 5-8% and undervolt as much as possible, because that's how you get the best performance/watt and usually reduces the power down to 65-70% of stock power.
@kodakblack531 Жыл бұрын
So you’re saying if you lower clocks from 2.9ghz to 2.7ghz and undervolt a bit instead of using 375 watts you’ll use 112 watts? Dam more efficient than 4090
@ivankovachev8835 Жыл бұрын
@@kodakblack531 65-70% OF stock power, emphasis on OF. Meaning if it consumes 375W it would consume 225-265W if you downclock it 5-8% and undervolt it as much as possible.
@elu5ive Жыл бұрын
nice, I also always try to reach max efficiency. recently when underclocking (especially older cards) I found out that setting clocks for state 7 (max power state) lower than what clocks for state 6 (second highest power state) are in bios sometimes leads to weird instabilities / erratic behavior, maybe because of priority conflicts, even if you set a custom curve. it seems like you should keep clocks for state 7 at least 2% above the original state 6, which usually means an underclock of 4-5% at most, never more than 6%. for example I underclocked a bad sample of a stock xtx by 4,56% and undervolted by 5,65% resulting in 74% consumption, running cooler and quiter at no perceivable loss in performance and stability. that seems like the best compromise
@ivankovachev8835 Жыл бұрын
@@elu5ive If you mean the 7900XTX, then yes, the clock speeds are pushed super high on it at stock, but 74% consumption is still great reduction in power. I got a RX 6700XT and I undervolted in the drivers by 100mv while reducing the clock speeds by 3.2% and got down from 195W to 134W power consumption or 68.7% power consumption with 0-3% performance loss. It now doesn't go over 55C(in a 30C room) and hotspot stays below 77C in continious Furmark, and Unigine Heaven, in games it's even cooler by a few degrees. And I have a 100hz monitor, so I use Frame Target of 100FPS too. The 7800XT and 7700XT overclock 15% and 19% respectively, which is quite a lot for modern GPUs, meaning they should easily be undervolted A TON with minimal to no changes in clock speeds.

ignore nvidia unless you are going for the 4090. In the UK: 6950XT if you can find it around 580. I've ignored power requirements because I assume the 2080s you got is high wattage already. As for budget ceiling - you didn't mention it. So, I've just chosen the highest performance/quid. If you need to step down in total cost, the 7800xt is really the only option in the UK. 6800 is a further step-down but it only makes sense if you can buy it at 420, not more. And even then, while the performance/quid makes sense, you'd be sacrificing resale value and future updates to software (the 7800xt might gain some more performance with upcoming driver, FSR, overclocking software)
