I've just come back to recovery after 30 years of addiction. I have been in and out for 20 years and 4 years ago I thought that I beat it. And forgot that I needed to still keep on my recovery I stopped going to meeting and reaching out to my support system and then my niece who I helped raise and loved her like she was my own died of this disease and I used that as an excuse, it took 3 suicide attempts and 2 overdoses for me to go back to treatment almost 2 months ago and now I am in a 1 yr aftercare sober living house. I was 75lbs when I went to treatment now I am 110lb. I know that I'm not in the clear though and this is something that I will have to work on for the rest of my life. And I'm finally willing to do that at 46 yrs old.
