This trick was huge for me! What other lessons can we learn from martial arts?

Thanks for the tips. I have ADHD, and have difficulty to get my self focused sometimes, especially when the routes are challenging. I would miss holds, hesitate, sweat and start to fear of falling. This issue becomes a big obstacle for me to make progress. I’ve been hanging with 6c in lead climbing for a couple of years. I noticed that when I climbed alone on the automatic belay system while listening to my favourite songs with my noise cancelling earphones, my flow would improve significantly. And I could send even 7a+. Not long ago, my coach said to me that I had very good techniques and strength, but he noticed my breathing problem. He then tried to guide me to breathe the same way as you introduced. It helped a lot not only for climbing but also other activities. It’s not easy to master the breathing technique as I have been doing it wrong all my life. But I’m making progress. Hopefully, the two tricks will help me enter the 7+ in lead soon.

thanks man, that's very interesting and relatable 😂 the other thing I'm planning to try is to fall on the clue from belayer given at random time. if one pushes himself hard and focuses on holding on a fall is never expected

Your personal anchor is attached wrong. Petzl recommends you attach the person anchor to your belay loop.

Nice video. Quick tip- sing songs about your dog or cat that you spontaneously make up to the tune of whatever song has been in your head lately! I do it all the time when I'm climbing well.

Does whistling use the same part of brain as singing? :) I was whistiling today while climbing and to be honest I was in some kind of chilled out state and focused on the route.

Very interesting! I'm reading some articles but no clear answer yet. In any case it does seem reasonable that whistling would also get you into a rhythm/flow and prevent your head filling up with distractions. Awesome discovery, Majkel!
