Following a challenging season with inconsistent rainfall, the corn was planted late, on June 6th. Despite these setbacks, the field yielded a successful corn silage crop, averaging 17 tons, in addition to the alfalfa and rye grass harvested earlier in the year. The field is now seeded with Tri Kaye as a cover crop, and 50 acres will undergo patterned tile drainage installation to improve future crop management. Pattern tiling involves placing four-inch lateral pipes every 40 feet to manage water flow, optimizing drainage for better crop outcomes.
