Overkill's bass is pure perfection, that's what i love about this band, they are among the only bands with constant loud bass which really gives a "machine" feel to it (since they mention machines a lot in their songs). Their riffs are always amazing old school thrash metal and they never sold out and became mainstream, this band has so many qualities of a perfect band, the only problem i've ever had with Overkill is that some songs get repetitive, but they listent to their fans so that's another plus. Simply put, Overkill is one of (if not) the best thrash metal bands out there.

Many bands become mainstream because what IS mainstream is a moving target. Metallica never sold out, musical tastes just changed, as a great example. Hell Aerosmith was once considered underground...kind of hard to not get more 'mainstream' than them. You out yourself when you use the terms 'sold out' and 'mainstream' as knowing nothing about music.

This is really good. I didn't like the first song much, sounded like something from the previous three albums. Which is not bad, but something we heard too often. It became repetitive. Now this is the way I like to hear Overkill. Cool riffs, rhythm changes, something new to discover, but not too complicated. That makes me hungry for the new album. And as Bobby Blitz promised, the new album is going to be much more diverse than the ones before. That's the way I like it...

Oh boy, I'm liking it again! It doesn't surprise me from Overkill, I think I even like this song more than Our Finest Hour. Proof that you don't need to be extremely fast to be extremely good at Thrash Metal (and Metal in overall). Still too soon to compare to White Devil Armory, I can imagine it'll be par to it. Something I really like from Overkill is the fact they're VERY consistent in terms of quality AND that they release albums very periodically from time to time (I think they've never been more than 3 years without releasing an album).

Although my favorite Overkill records are from 1993-2007, I somewhat liked their "return" to a thrashier sound after 2010's "Ironbound", but after that I had an impression that every subsequent album was "more of the same". That being said, came here expecting this, but I am surprised; this song is Overkill at its finest, IMO. I'm gonna check this album ASAP.

Transition starting at 3:16 is epic, never heard this one before. However, 3:58 riff sounds as if Overkill has not exhausted their work on 2:56 riff in "Bitter Pill" of White Devil Armory. And that's a GOOD thing, that's what they love to do as Blitz stated in one of his interviews. Another awesome transition at 5:1 and Dave Linsk delivers as he always does. What a great song! Plus, I'm doing my fatherly duty by turning my daughter and friends onto Overkill and others...she's 19 and loves it. StygianTraveler141 Look, their 'Hail To The King' album was outstanding for me. And, yeah, i'm really disappointed from their new release. I love these guys, but... that new album sucks. Hey, I am concentrated on real metal. The new Testament album is ridiculously awesome. And the new Metallica record, for me, is the best thing i've heard in 2016.
@philmichel86337 жыл бұрын
Um..."Save Me"?...."Exist"? Avenged Sevenfold is very capable of writing long songs that aren't boring
@matt117087 жыл бұрын
Phil Michel not to me sorry many better bands have done better long songs try out ozzy era black sabbath or early metallica.
@philmichel86337 жыл бұрын
matt11708 I mean I'll agree that those bands have made great long songs. In fact, when I listen to early Metallica I have a difficult time realizing just how long they are. They're so great it doesn't feel like I've spent 7 or 8 minutes listening to a song. But I would argue that Sevenfold does just fine. They don't write as many long songs, but the few they've come out with are epic. Their latest album had "The Stage" and "Exist", both of which I would argue are very well put together. But you have to be into that kind of stuff I guess. No matter how brilliant the composer, if you don't like the music, you don't like it. As talented as Tchaikovsky was, people will still prefer to listen to songs like "Broccoli" over his masterpieces. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, you might not like Avenged Sevenfold's long songs, but they are still great songs. Might just not be your style
