Overkill is from Old Bride NJ, I'm from Sayreville a neighboring town. The OB Militia was formed in the early 80's and passes the Metal Music to the next generation. It was in my fathers collection untouched for many many years amongst other gems like Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II, Maiden's Number of the Beast and more. Metallica gets credit for creating "thrash" because their demo got distributed all around the world before their first album even came out. Overkill put out the first truly "thrash" demo... but it wasn't distributed around the tape-trading community like Metallica's "No Life Til Leather." LOVES me some Overkill!! Especially the title track from Feel the Fire, and my favorite album from them The Years of Decay. Guitarist Bobby Gustafson left in the late 80s or early 90s for a band called Cycle Sluts From Hell. They had one funny/cool "hit" called I Wish You Were A Beer which you should DEFINITELY check out. Not until you do Def Leppard's BEST song Let It Go, though! :-)

You need to react to Anthrax sometime soon. You've covered three of the Big Four of US thrash metal, and Anthrax always seems to get the short end of the stick, for a reason I don't know. I mean, songs like Indians, Caught In A Mosh, I Am The Law, and Among The Living are among their finest and most critically acclaimed. And that's just a small selection of great songs to choose from. Also, I hope Dave Mustaine recovers well from his throat cancer.

John Smith ....of course we read these. It’s how we make 95% of our selections. Thank you! Met Colin for lunch in NYC after he was showcasing Little Big Band 2 at the Mercury Lounge bear the Village. We recognized him, followed him to the lounge, watched the gig with 12 others and then chilled with him over lunch. I had recently moved to Victoria BC Canada and was visiting NYC after moving from there a year prior. It was unforgettable. Been following him since 1999 when I had moved to Canada.
