Reconfiguring never seems to end, It sounds like you have a good idea of what your really wanting so thats a plus. I have a list of a bunch of little things I want to get done before the expo.

I feel ya there. I’m constantly coming up with new ideas but I’ve got a ways to go on this truck. Getting there though!

Look forward to seeing what you come up with, but you might want to look into to a full side out platform unit before building one

I saw the "bedslide" thing, but those go for about $1200 and are angled a bit, so I lose a significant amount of storage space. I'll see what else I can find though!

I've been brainstorming a similar setup for my Frontier. I'm leaning towards using 8020 and their slides over bearings though. My truck is my daily so I probably won't permanently mount any overland/camping boxes to the bed slide. Are you thinking you'll put the "cover" above or below your utilitrac? I'm excited to see what you do and will post pics of what I do on the FB group when I get it all figured out.

I’m getting a lot of ideas from folks now so considering HDPE also. I was thinking of putting the “cover” up on top of the bed and using some sort of quick release clamps inside the bed to keep it in place so it keeps water and dust out. Might even use gas struts to lift the cover to get access to the inside of the bed if I need to. Not sure! I’m going to do a lot of measuring and sketching and I’m laying out cardboard in my living room to test layout everything before building, 😀.

This is my current struggle. I've gotten a softopper with a Datin Fab rack around it. The Softopper keeps everything dry so I don't have to worry about that. I'm still confused why so many overlanders like an open bed, maybe I'll find out after I am done and can't get to what's on top of the deck I've built up by the cab? I've built a plywood deck with two drawer sections that go higher than a tonneau cover would have allowed hence why I wanted a full cap. Now I'm struggling with the drawers. More just need time to work on them. I'm building them around my griddle and fridge. This video is my inspiration, this guy's a woodworking genius. If I can accomplish 1/10th of what he's built I'll be over the moon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gV6uZGSQd5aciLs
