NEIL!! Best video yet! Your editing skills made this one super awesome! I am staying tuned to see how you build out the interior....

I'm glad you like it! I should be getting back into the build soon and getting some more vids up.

@@NEILSWORLD no pressure, I've got your back catalogue to watch. I hope to build a smaller jack off camper one day, still looking for my perfect base vehicle. The flat deck / detachable habitat just makes so much sense for my uses. Nice engineering work you've done there too.
@NEILSWORLD Жыл бұрын
@@sharpsticksnz4112 I originally bought the truck to plow snow with. A camper was an afterthought that's why I made it self-contained and detachable.

@9:09 Here for the stilts! I'd like to build a daily utility trailer that becomes a weekend kayak & bike trailer, that further has a pop-up that piggybacks on top, but has outrigger stilts, so the 2 parts can separate at any time. You're giving me hope man. Thank you for the video - so many great ideas being executed together.

Awesome video. I just started editing videos so now I realize the amount of time involved. This truck you've built is a dream truck of mine. Keep up the great work!

Yes, producing videos is quite the process. 😅 I love this truck. building out the container will probably take some time but I will keep plugging away at it. 👍

Good stuff man. Been following the build for awhile now and I'm really warming up to the concept of being able to detach the shelter like that. Makes it more like a base of operations and you can still use your truck to haul material.

Is the box welded on the frame or bolt on? What a nice camper!
@NEILSWORLD2 жыл бұрын
This box has mounting locations for the military's axles so they can pull it like a trailer. I bolted the cage to these locations.

Where did you buy the stilts? You might want to think about adding gussets to the stilts with only 1 support.

www.etrailer.com/Camper-Jacks/HappiJac/LC736515-4.html Gussets might be a good idea. 👍

Maybe I missed it but I am guessing all the square tube is 2" x /120 wall steel or ? did you mix for specific spots with 1/4" wall. Thanks for any reply. I have an S-280 in the back of an M813 and was inspired by your stilt mod for what I might do. Curious on the specs of the steel you chose to use.
@NEILSWORLD Жыл бұрын
Most of the 2x2 I used was quarter inch. I think the only place I did not use that thick of wall was on the floor of the front bin where the AC compressor is.

That is awesome, you do really nice work. I am curious though, what is the overall height of the back and how do you secure it to the bed?
@SeanFillner3 жыл бұрын
I want to guess on this one. On level ground I am guessing 12'6" to the top of the box...
@elgoogsucks90053 жыл бұрын
@@SeanFillner it is the exact height of his garage door minus about half his tire height. : )

Thanks, you know I measured it last summer but I can't remember the overall height exactly I will check it when I install the box this summer and let you know.

On the rear I have large ratchet straps from the lower loops of the container down to the frame rails and on the front if you look at 4 minutes 23 seconds you can see my vise grips 😂 on the front. Those will eventually be replaced with bolts down through the angle iron that sets on top of the front bed rail.
@elgoogsucks90053 жыл бұрын
@@NEILSWORLD Thanks. It really does look great. I love how you can take it off the back while you are out in the field. The Happi jack idea is awesome, but I looked them up and they were more than what you paid for the shelter! Mostly because you got a good deal on the shelter, but still. Do you have any ideas on where you might take it? We can't all live in Oregon and Washington... : )
@wesm39153 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you have the motorcycle on the back when you came down the hill?
