The Montero offered everything we had hoped for. It is rugged, reliable, cost effective, and looked so damn cool with a bit of dirt flung all over it. One thing led to another and we started to modify the truck to suit our needs for living on the road. What was meant to be a simple point A to point B weekend vehicle became a full fledged adventure mobile to carry us, and our two dogs, out on a trail for weeks --and potentially longer!

Pajero/Montero can be a MEAN offroad rig, especially the 2nd gen and 1st gen Sport. These cars dominated the Dakar rally. Parts are plentiful, they're legendarily reliable, there's a huge aftermarket support and they are really cheap for what they offer. If I didn't already have an Off road car, I'd buy the Pajero/Montero. Friend has one wiht 2.5 diesel and though it's not a speed demon by any means, it ran on used up motor oil for a good couple kilometers- just long enough to get us to a gas station. They're awesome and deserve a lot more love than they're getting!

I was given the opportunity to buy a '98 Montero with almost 180k miles, and I've always wanted one for this purpose but I wasn't sure about the high miles... I'm not sure how much work you've had to do over the years on yours but hearing you say you purchased yours with similar miles and it's lasted this long, it definitely gives me hope. Love the content. Love the truck. I have a Trooper that shares many things with your truck. I love owning an odd ball. FYI regular *quality* Dry chemical ABC extinguishers don't expire. They will hold thier charge indefinitely. All they require is occasionally stir the powder. There are states that require them to be serviced in a commercial setting but not private owned units. I have units from 1986 that haven't been touched and still charged

😎 I too have a Pajero (Montero) that I am doing an overland build on. Quite a similar setup, currently I still have the rear passenger seats, but a full DIY drawer system and fridge slide too. Really like the setup you have. Cool to see you running 33" tyres on a lif with no issues on the Auto. Been leaning towards moving to that after some training and trail driving recently.

Very cool! 33s are a good middle ground between on-road and off-road capabilities. 31s would be the best option for long term overland travel, but off-road not as much clearance. Good luck with your build!

Came for the doggo content and left satisfied. I love how attainable this rig is compared to a lot of typical IG overlanders. Where do you keep your camp tables and chairs? What does Linhberg use for additional camp kitchen surface area?

We didn't have a lot of money to throw at it all at once, so we built up everything over time and very slowly when we could! This is about 4 years of traveling and piecing together as we knew what we wanted. Camp table and chairs are stored in the side bins! They're all folding so they go small. And we have a cooking surface by pulling out one of the drawers and placing a cutting board on top. Super simple, but works great! Linhbergh is going to make another video focused on the camp kitchen specifically in the near future!

We've actually never needed a winch. Maxtrax have gotten us out of pretty much any situation we've gotten ourselves stuck into. But we're also very acutely aware not to get ourselves into winch-able situations --especially so because we mostly travel alone.

Hey you two, I have the Gen 2 Pajero (You had them as Monteros) here in Australia and would love to work out some good US sources for purchasing Mods and Accessories as well as what we have in Australia that would be of use to you and your subscribers. My 3.5l Petrol (Gasoline) V6 Gen 2 runs Tough Dog suspension with a 40 mm (just under 2 inches) lift and whilst we can find some things quite easily here which might be difficult for you to source, I have noticed that you are able to get other mods and accessories over there which are just no longer available here, such as bash plates, rock sliders, adjustable upper control arms (we are right hand drive here, so there are obvious differences) etc...
