Overlanding Southern Africa: JTS2 Ep 10 - Battling Fields & Mud - Mpumulanga to the Battlefields

After 3 incredible days wild camping at Caracal Lodge in the Houtboshoek, it was time to get back on the road again - destination the Battlefields and the Blood River Heritage Site.
Well, that was the plan anyway until I took a sho't left when I saw the Westoe Dam only to get us well and truly stuck in the mud!
How we got out is a story in itself and forced us into yet another unscheduled stop - this time overnighting in Amsterdam - but we did eventually make it to the Battlefields where we set up camp at the Blood River Heritage Site.
Of course to fully explore the Battlefields would be an entire season in itself, but for me what is important, is that places like Blood River and Ncome Museum are preserved and supported because they have such important stories that need telling.
From there we found ourselves back in the Midlands and Nottingham Road - twice in one trip when it was never on our original route plan! That's the joy of overlanding and getting on the road, Just to See How Far It Is!

We don’t know nor a winch - this are things that we plan to add on as we go - but our overlanding adventures are not meant to see us getting stuck in the mud haha. I actually don’t know the name of those noodles - I buy them from a Chinese General Dealer
