Thank you for the great video. My first trip to Afton Canyon Campground was in 1973. We were running the Manx fiberglass dune buggies. We would camp at Crucero where we would ride the sand dunes. Unfortunately the area has been closed. Very fond memories

yeah, that was a cool area back in the day. It is sad how many areas have been closed that future generations will never know about. If you have any photos, please post them on our website. We would love to see them.

Just did the Mojave Road for my birthday weekend! (01.08.21) What an awesome trail. My favorites were the Joshua tree forest twisties and the WHOOPS! I giggled over every one :) Thank you for the detailed write up and video. I used your GPX tracks in Gaia and it was flawless. Hope to see you on the trails soon!

First time out on the trail was 1991. Got stuck in Afton Canyon in our brand new Explorer, as the canyon was completely full of 6" deep pools and I found the only 5' deep water hole. Buddies got the M 561 Gama Goat 6 wheel drive articulating truck to come out from Razer Road station and rescue me. Last year I stopped at the Razer Road gas station (after wheeling the trail in the same 91 Explorer) and met the new owners. The Gama Goat sits behind the station and hasn't run in years. They'll sell.

Wow! that really sucks that they filled in the water crossing. that was the most anticipated, dreaded, anxiety inducing, and euphoric (once crossed!) part of the road! Well, i'm glad we did it before they filled it in. It was almost up to our headlights when we did it in october 2020!

Absolutely everything you need to know is on this website. www.thewave.info/TheConfluenceCode/Map.html Not many people know about this spot but I’m sure you will appreciate it. cant we go without changing the air pressure?
@Trailsoffroad
@Trailsoffroad 2 жыл бұрын
We always recommend airing down for three reasons: 1 - it helps protect against flat tires, 2 - its much more comfortable! 3 in the sandy areas you will have better traction. Can you? Yes, but you will risk flats, comfort and traction. :) Enjoy out there!

@Trailsoffroad

Rumors (Maybe a little better than that) - The railroad is working on the tracks. After several of their vehicles getting hydro locked / stuck they filled the crossing without the BLM permission. Rumors are this isn't the first time. And Rumors are they will remove it when done.
