Overlanding West Virginia: The Devil's Teacup

Why is this set of tracks and trails through the West Virginia wilderness called the Devil's Teacup? I have no idea. What I do know is that these 40 miles of trails will give you a glimpse of just about everything you can imagine east of the Mississippi: deep mudholes, ruts, v-notches, water crossings, idyllic woodlands, crazy inclines, radical declines, downed trees, off camber sections, mountain views, and even evidence of coal mining left behind. (OK . There weren't any oceans, large lakes or arches, but you get the idea.) If you don't like what you see, just wait a few miles as it is likely to change right before your eyes. Can you drive this in a day? Probably. At least most of it anyway! Though you might run into the same challenge we did in the far northern section and have to decide if that part of the trail is truly worth the drive. But otherwise, this was an awesome though very long day of exploring the wild wilderness of West Virginia. Enjoy!

Awesome looking trail. I'm surprised that section was all grown in. You'd think the sxs's would have it worn in through there.

@PapawGrandmaAdventures it surprised us as well. It looked like the saplings were bent down the hill rather than up, so it seems someone has just been driving down it. Otherwise, an awesome trail and we were surprised it isn't better known.
