You guys! We are on a Route 66 road trip and got into New Mexico today (Friday). We watched this video (we follow you religiously) when you posted it a few months ago and my husband saw that LaChoza was close to our planned route. Ken had the chili rellenos which he never would have except for your recommendation (and the fact that my sister in law also devours them whenever she has opportunity). He is a huge fan of them now, although he’s afraid that no Mexican restaurant can ever measure up to LaChoza and might have spoiled him for Mexican food. Haha, such is life 😂 but wow thank you for sharing about that amazing place! I had the taquitos and we had the puffy tortillas that you put honey on ( I forgot the name already)We went for dinner which opens at 4:30 pm …we got there at 4:15 and a lot people were already lining up, but they still had us seated shortly after they started taking people in. The place looks so much bigger on the inside than it does from outside, and let me tell you it got packed!! The food was so incredible! Wow! And service was awesome too. We love your videos ❤️❤️❤️thanks again!

When my mum passed away from cancer we were stood at her graveside. My dad had passed away 4 years prior also of cancer but she’d never got over my dad passing - they were inseparable. I so wanted a sign to know they were together again. I remember looking towards the bluest of blue skies on that sad frosty January day and seeing two doves fly over and I thought to myself they are together again flying happy and free with no pain ❤ hold those you love tight in your arms or whilst you are not with them in your thoughts. Nothing else matters except being loved and giving love in return. x

Chesca, the ongoing story after your dad died is truly very special. I hope he continues to visit making meaningful times. I lost my dad when I had just turned 13 and I was living in NYC and I can remember truly thinking I was seeing him in crowds ahead of me on the street in his tan trench coat and bald head. Such a strong feeling for many reasons. He had died of a massive heart attack playing poker with his friends at the Friars Club and I always wondered whether he was holding a winning or losing hand. So it took me quite awhile to truly believe that he was gone at age 51 Thrilled that you got to see so much of New Mexico to fall in love with it even if you didn't make it farther north. Ben, I know that sense of awe as you look at the vastness of the landscape and walk along the steps of so many people that were there thousands of years ago. Your videos are wonderful . Thank you both for allowing us to be with you and getting to know you and the pups. Safe travels, Ellen

Oh Ellen this breaks my heart a little 💔 I think it’s the feeling that accompanies the moment that hits the most. It’s a special kind of landscape here and the history seeps out of every rock 🙏💛

Aw, I loved hearing about your Dad and the blackbird. My older sister was in Hospice but she wasn't meant to die this soon. The day I was visiting just before Christmas a few years back there was a bright red cardinal sitting on the railing outside in the garden near her window. I commented to my sister in law that might not be a good sign because it usually means a visit from a spirit. My sister in law hadn't heard about that so she said it might be her sister visiting and I said it was probably my Aunt who was close to my sister. An hour or two later Santa came into the room for a visit and took a picture with my sister who was laughing and joking. Dinner came 20 minutes later and I was helping her eat and she asked for a sip of coffee which she sipped through a straw. She mumbled something and the next thing she put her head down as if sleeping. I knew she was gone at that moment. My sister in law said she was just sleeping but I knew. Then I mentioned the cardinal and said it must have been a spirit relative coming to take my sister away. It was so unexpected. Now when I see a cardinal outside my kitchen window sitting in the Rose of Sharon bush I think of a loved one coming to visit.

Your blackbird experiences are lovely and very special... My family has similar experiences but with white feathers in connection to one of my aunts who died... always on days connected to her. I once had a most bizarre and at the time terrifying experience driving a windy narrow road in the dark to the West of Ireland. The face of my dog (dead over a year) suddenly filled the windscreen in front of me, snarling angrily.. that dog alive was the gentlest creature and never snarled... I jammed on the brakes and was shaking and my heart racing.. I got out all wobbly and didn't know what to think, then thought there must be something wrong with the car but couldn't see anything wrong with it... I was in some kind of shock.. it was so real..and I didn't understand it at all but to settle myself I walked up to the next bend 30 meters away to settle my shakes , deep breathing in the hopes it would relax me because I was afraid to get back in the car and go on driving. I got to the bend and to my horror and disbelief saw big dark shadows - about 8 cattle just around the bend filling the whole road... had I not stopped.. or rather been stopped... I would have ploughed straight into them. I walked on to find a house to tell them... and a farmer came and moved them... but when I eventually continued my journey I was still in disbelief - how did that happen, how could the dog have stopped me. The same dog appeared exactly the same, face snarling, years later in my sleep, waking me in the same state of heart thumping and me trembling. It was someone else's house, an elderly person I was visiting a few days to help. Naturally I raced to look for every possible danger, my elderly friend having a heart attack? an intruder? a fire somewhere in the house? I ended in tears because after even climbing into the attic I couldn't find what the danger was and chose to think, though not convinced, that perhaps by getting up and turning on the lights I had foiled a break-in or something.. alas, next day I went home and got a call the following night that neighbors had found my elderly friend hypothermic on her bedroom floor having barracaded her bedroom door and signs of disarray in the house and that she had been on the floor since the night before. She had been drugged... what else happened her was not known. She survived but didn't remember all but suffice to say that due to evidence found in the house the person was caught and convicted of this and other similar incidents that happened to other elderly ladies. Had I stayed one more night... but there was no way I could have guessed what that appearance of my dead dog was trying to warn me of. However it did end a serial situation that evidence suggested had been going on for years with some people dying as a result and thus by arrest and conviction had saved others from similar attacks so maybe that was meant to be. Thankfully the dog has not appeared to me since. I think there is more connection between the existence that we call life here and the energy that life comes from and goes back to. I don't try to understand any of the strange happenings that people experience, I just accept that they do happen .. because we can't explain them and don't need to.

Oh my god, that sounds terrifying but also incredibly special. Your pup was surely looking out for you! I also think there's far more than we understand. Chesca, I am so sorry to hear your dad passed. I'm thinking you may have been in Nova Scotia when he transitioned? I understand how hard it is to lose a beloved parent. I firmly believe in birds as messengers from beyond. When my dad died suddenly 20 years ago, later that morning I was talking to my mom on the phone from my bed when a flock of chickadees flew up to my second floor window and started tapping and flappung their wings at the window, soon followed by another flock at the other bedroom window doing the same thing! Never happened before or after that. And after my mom died, a cardinal came to my parents' yard as we were closing up the house after it sold, the first I had ever seen. Cardinals are very rare in my part of Nova Scotia. I had just mentioned to my husband the evening before that I would love to see a sign from Mom that all was okay, and wouldn't a cardinal be special. It certainly was that! I will never forget either event and still find feathers in the most extraordinary places, and just when I need reassurance. Life and transitioning to the next realm certainly are filled with mystery and wonder! Take good care and enjoy that beautiful guitar. ( "Blackbird" happens to be one of my favourite songs that my son sings and plays for me...that and Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds"). Love from NS.

Hey Doris 💛 He passed when I was back in the UK. We stayed vigil with him for 2 weeks, didn’t leave his side except for the night when I needed to sleep. He went during the night. I’d come down with covid and had been feeling horrific. Early that morning I woke up and felt absolute peace, I was just so comfortable in bed, no pain, no aches and had a feeling of complete bliss, as though everything was perfect in the world. I went back to sleep and woke up to a phone call that he’d gone in the night. I’m certain that feeling I felt was him saying hello. It was so strong and so unusual. Those are such beautiful moments you’ve had with your parents and birds, I’ve heard about cardinals before as messengers. Thank you for sharing your stories with me ✨ Blackbird has to be one of the first songs I learn 🥰✨ xxx Sending love x

Hi guys, such a crazy trip you are having. I remember asking for a sign when my wife passed and that's coming to the first years anniversary in a few days. I asked to see two rabbits sitting together on a lawn during my walk with our dog. I got nothing for the longest time and I had never told anyone about my wish, then one day my daughter came home from her walk with Strider our Husky and I asked as I usually do how her walk was. She said oh nothing special but I did see as I was walking by a house that we like, two rabbits sitting together on the lawn. And she said it was so sweet seeing them together. Well I am still waiting for that sign but you can be assured that they that have passed are listening and watching us. Love you both. Cheers 😘🥂😘

My wife and I are Van travelers, and we are leaving Michigan for the southwest next week. We were in NS at the same time you guys were there too. We hope you are truly enjoying your travels in the US. I’ve been a guitar player for 50 years, and one travels with me where ever I go. So glad to see that you are picking up playing too. There are 2 things I recommend. First is practice! No progress will be made without that discipline. Second is what the environment in the van will do to you beautiful new instrument. Guitars need steady temperatures (between 65 and 75 degrees F is a reasonable range) and HUMIDITY, 40% relative humidity is highly recommended. You will NOT get that naturally. Find a humidifier that can be placed in the case with the guitar; D’Addario Humidipaks are nice because there increase humidity in a dry location, and lower it in a wet location. Good luck on playing and enjoy the road trip.
@OverlandingSophia Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Rick! The guitar is actually dehumidified already so it will be okay in the van. This is something Hailey was talking to me about as she has a campervan and guitars too. But yes, practice makes perfect. I played the piano for 10 years but couldn’t play you anything now. It wasn’t my instrument of choice but I can’t wait to get stuck into the new guitar. She’s a beauty 💛 Happy and safe travels down to the SW guys 🙌

Thanks Asa, I'm sure robins are too! I met a woman with my nan once, we were in a beautiful gardens somewhere in the Midlands and she was sat on the bench with us. She said her late husband visits her as a robin, and the next thing a robin comes and sits next to her on the back of the bench as if to say 'here I am!' - it was such a special moment for all of us! So i'm sure there's magic with those birds too 💕 xx

Nice story about the blackbird. I always link the arrival of swallows to my late wife. She loved it when she saw the first ones of the year as it meant spring had arrived. Not as close a connection as you’ve had with a singular blackbird but there’s always reminders in life of loved ones. Good luck with the guitar. Get ready for sore finger ends😂!!…. Safe travels🤙

Good decision to come down out of the snow, things can change for the worse quickly out here in the Rockies. Had the most wonderful experience there a couple years ago coming across wild Indian ponies that were living amongst the decrepit and derelict ruins of route 66 tourist shops

Glad you got to see some cool looking sites in NM. If you get a chance, check out Chaco Canyon. That place is awesome. It is NW of Albuquerque. That really bad road you went down reminded me of the road to Chaco Canyon, however I hear that they paved it finally. Chaco Canyon is famous for the depiction of the Supernova of 1054 under the rock overhang, a depiction of a solar eclipse and other rock art among other things. It is a totally awesome place to visit. There are a large amount of 1000 year old buildings there too. That is pretty old for North America.
@OverlandingSophia Жыл бұрын
We desperately wanted to go to Chaco Canyon and also the badlands there but it was so far north and the weather so bad we couldn't make it. To see the depiction of the super nova would have been incredible. Honestly we need to come back to NM just to see more of the north, to see Taos, the Enchanted Circle, the hot springs. Lots of unfinished business here 💛

Another excellent video. Been watching since you were here in Nova Scotia. Just curious, earlier in the video you mentioned you wanted to learn to play a 12 string. What made you buy a 6 string? I agree that was the correct decision btw. Much easier to learn on a 6 string and then graduate to a 12 string, just wanted to see what changed your mind :)
