035 Best Spots Driving the Florida Keys

On our 180 mile drive through the Florida Keys we stopped to feed massive Tarpon fish, relaxed in a hammock overlooking turquoise waters, found alligators in the wild and watched the famous sunset at Key West - the southernmost tip of the USA.

I drove there from Miami in January 2019. Best advice I can give anyone is to stay on the keys for at least 4 days..... Really it's awesome.

ITS ALLIGATORS MY DEAR! im from florida,,, corcodiles were introduced much later and they are an invasive species..florida also has burmese pythons and african rock pythons that were introduced by negligent owners and they are eating everything in the everglades.

It takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours to drive to Key West. We leave at 5am and get there no later than 8:15am. Has never taken us 5 hours even if leaving later and we live in Ft. Lauderdale, which is further from Key west then Miami. We do this 4X a year.

Wow! Thanks for the quick response! I live in Miami since 1974. But the last time I was out to Key West was around 1996. I'm sure a lot has been updated and added to that area of the Keys. It appears you guys were there recently. Now, I have a 14 year-old daughter and want her to see the Florida Keys. I just bought a GoPro Hero 5 Black. Can you give me any pointers on what settings to use for the snorkeling and in general. It's funny I have shares in GoPro when they IPO and this is the first GoPro I acquired. Thanks for any suggestions.

Antonio Daniel Thats great! the GoPro are pretty easy to use. we film in 1080 because it's all we need. You can do protune if editing the footage afterwords. but otherwise there is no much to adjust! good diving!

I've biked it 15 times! It takes me about 9.25 hours of actual bike time from Miami. Agreed, it doesn't take 5 hours to drive it.

The Monroe County Police are overpopulated and tyrannical, everything in the keys is overpriced. There is no camping unless you want to pay $50 a night.

@@FredMas-gt2uh be careful what you wish for. In Myrtle Beach we had an understaffed police department and it all went to crap. Can't walk Ocean Blvd at night anymore.
