The rapid appreciation in the stock value of these US quantum computing companies isn't only being driven by blind punts on 'the next big thing.' China is years ahead on quantum applications. Its manifest superiority in this area presents significant challenges to a country that likes to think of itself as Number One for the sake of it. The plays on these quantum stocks are therefore reactive and focusing on tradfi 'fundamentals' misses the point. Both large and retail investors have sussed this out. It means that these companies will likely continue to make gains that'll put crypto meme coins to shame.
