Might have been security you know. Scrappers at 8AM in broad daylight, as well as the fact that they didn't go into "your room" seems a bit strange to me. Also the fact that they are using their voices freely - seems an odd thing to do. I think it was security just doing a walk round which is probably done everyday at a similar time. The locked doors would have been unsuspected so the metal "crowbars" resulted. I may be completely wrong. Glad you got out anyway.

There is a security camera room. The room was a bit to exposed to use as the place to sleep. Also the cameras were not working on this visit. You can see this room on my previous video here.

I love that with the mattresses. I'd say they were burglars. I like the keypad in that lift. That is fantastic with that old computer. I will try to find out what that DOS application was. I see it had a terminal emulator.

The shell on the old PC was likely a custom one that was designed specifically for building management and was designed to interface with a large range of different microcontroller logics like the ones that run the climate control systems, lifts and hot water boilers. It may of also been possible for that PC to remotely send commands to the lifts like to remotely put them in car preference and to send them to a floor! Or they could remotely disable a lift if security sees an unauthorised person on the cameras in a staff lift! :)

That Compaq wasn’t being used in 2021. HoF used Windows 8 with custom software from Sports Direct at the time.

That Old computer was probably one of the smaller computers tied on a off-site storage centre, it could have been used as a print server for all the different pcs in the building to connect to, or maybe a document storage system

That computer LOL! Over and over again, where you expect a real control or dedicated processing system... doi! It's a wintel box! I saw one of those even running the emergency back-up power switch-over at a famous hospital in 2010. Where real control gear had been, there was nothing but a single wintel tower in an otherwise freshly emptied rack in the power room. It was loud in that room, I gave the guy who was showing me around a 'WTF' look and he responded with kind of a concerned laugh. He didn't like it ether.

The schindler seems very cheap having just a 2-speed MRL. Never seen that before. The DOS computer reminds me of when I was practicing at a place working with caretakers who maintained 2 old opera houses and some museum buildings. Their AC systems in those buildings were controlled by very old computers wich I belive ran windows 3.x or something. You could also see the status of the elevators as well (80's-built elevators from KONE and various generics and some modernization.) - If someone pushed the emergency alarm in an elevator that would be notified inside whatever software program that ran on these computers.

The old KONE voice is so iconic. I also managed to get lift parts! I tried KONE they didnt answer so i moved to Dewhurst and got some!

Dewhurst seem to be one of the few lift parts manufactures that send product samples to enthusiasts. While this is a nice gesture, don't let this influence any critical opinions you have over which lift buttons are best. Sadly it seems that some lift enthusiasts opinions are not impartial as they can be brought (or you could say bribed) as they start liking Dewhurst just because they got free samples from them. The best way to get lift buttons is to ask lift engineers replacing lifts if you can have the buttons. They will often say yes. Also, if you ask at demolition sites on a Sunday, the weekend security guard is often happy to let you on site to take some parts. Demolition sites usually are throwing away all the metal on the site which isn't copper. So they wouldn't mind letting you have any non copper parts, but their health and safety won't allow it, which is why it is best to ask the Sunday guard as he usually doesn't care.

It is a set of 2 lifts, but on floor 2 the lifts act independently to each other. One goes into the staff only area and the other one doesn't. One needs a key for 2 and the other doesn't.
