Overnight storms give me my best photo in several years- Coolac NSW- 13th December 2023

The initial storms during the day near Harden NSW became an outflow mess and I had to make do with lightning within the rain. Further storms exploded 150kms for my west after dark on the Southwest Slopes and I bolted west to intercept. This payed off producing some amazing branchy lightning, and i'm glad I nailed one great photo.

Wise move heading west from that initial outflow mess ! Nice bolts and how it lit the hills is superb

Thanks Michael Was looking dire for a while when outflow took charge of the entire area, but the race back west payed off! It's crazy how much that bolt illuminated the hills!

Excellent shot of an unusually branchy CG! The photo with a few bolts was great as well, and as frustrating as that early rain mess must have been you persisted and ended up with a nice haul of crawlers on video too. Well done!

Thanks mate, yeah those rainy crawlers just after sunset were quite nice, they were still going when I left them for the storms further west

Thanks mate! Currently using Nikon d780 @ 120 frames per second to shoot the majority of the lightning, but occasionally I also shoot with my phone ( s22 ultra)
