I have the same problem. Around 5 years ago I put 10 guppies in my alligator gar's pond but he had no interest in eating them. So they kept breeding endlessly and I have hundreds of them now

Looks like the tank we had when I was a kid. We started out with just a few guppies, but soon ended up with a great deal more. We had a self-sustaining population in that tank for close to 10 years. I used snails and a plecostomus to control algae and lots of aquarium weed (mostly elodea gathered from the nearby river) kept the water clean.

Get a 20 gallon container put it outside if you can fill it up with water put some water lettuce and that is it. no filter no water change don't clean the bottom get 2 females and 2 miles. In one month it will be full of Guppies

The leaves that fall from the water lettuce ---- don't take him out. Let them rot in the bottom. Don't put rocks in the bottom either. Leave the tank bare bottom. No current necessary. "Dead" water

What I have found it works for me is when I notice the females look like ready to pop I slow down the feeding or as soon as you see tiny fry stop feeding for a couple days.

I don't live off of this. I sell them in a flea market. I have a 400 gallon pond which I breed them in by the hundreds. Plus I have sold goldfish, birds,and saltwater fish.

They do eat some. The more plants you have, the higher the survival for the fry. Once they grow just a little, they will not touch them.
